It seems like the PGA wants Rory to be the face of golf.
Who's forcing amateurs to use specific equipment? we can already use whatever the hell we want. I can use old wedges with the deeper sharper grooves when i play if I want to. I can go buy a gigantic 550cc driver head right now if i want to. Who's stopping me? So as long as the ball companies still make balls that go long, i'll still use them. If the ball companies decide to stop selling long balls to me, then i'll stop buying balls from that ball company.
I’m with Matt. Make changes to “Pro” equipment only and leave equipment for regular golfers alone. Why are they talking about changes? It’s because the pros are dominating the courses in their tournaments . The regular golfers are not and don’t need changes that will make it more challenging. It’s the manufactures that are fighting this so just put your foot down and tell them make shorter traveling balls for pros and leave regular balls alone. Reign in the clubs for pros as well. That increases ball distance as much as the balls.
Trump will sign an executive order to demand the manufacturers leave equipment for recreational golfers alone. Otherwise, he’ll have to cheat even more with a restricted ball.
Just make pro's use shorter tees if they can't tee it up so high they will not hit it so far
