  1. I keep playing with golfers who have just been fitted for drivers and irons. And none of them hit the ball any better than they did before. All this technology nonsense, does not replicate golf course conditions.

  2. Wishing SGGT much success! In the states in a large metro area all of the paid-for "pro iron fittings" only offer a 6i or 7i with a limited matrix of shafts.

  3. Wow, this was simply amazing to see how a good fitter can make your set feel and respond to what you want to see your set do. The make up of the set suits both your eyes ,feel & numbers . I love this type of video

  4. Just been to Chesterfield with iron fitting with Laurence. It was a great experience and ultimately ended with clubs I wouldn't have expected. The range of shafts and heads is amazing. If I'd been left alone to choose I would have ended with stronger lofted clubs. First round, four par threes hit every green 😊

  5. I've been fit on two occasions, once at a chain fitter and once by a specialized fitter. In both cases I felt rushed through the process, unimpressed, and questioning if the conclusions they (barely) articulated represented creating optimized results for me or if they were just upselling at every turn. I would prefer the fitter drive the process, but I'm 0 for 2 in finding a fitter that I was confident in. I'm thinking there are a limited number of fitters that actually know what they are talking about.

  6. Would like to know the cost of a set of irons after these fittings. Pointless going and fetting fitted for a perfect set if its going to blow any busget out the water😮

  7. Its all a money making exercise .. proper fitting would include swing weighting. No one hits iron after iron on the course and don't start me on driver…

  8. Tour players generally hit off real grass to try new clubs, these fittings give a false impression , especially with a mid handicap golfer! The really interesting point from this vid is the drop off in distance when hitting a pure blade and only missing the sweet spot by a tiny bit, and you are a really good golfer!

  9. Had a fitting done by Club Champion a few years ago. While I got the irons and wedges I hit the best during the fitting, I found for the most part the results did not translate to the course. Never consistent with the irons, Honma TR21X, however the wedges did perform well TM Hi-Toe wedges. I would not repeat the process due to the costs involved.

  10. Thank you for doing this. Recently fitted for irons, hit 7 iron into a simulator and paid for new iron set based on the fitters recommendation. once on the course after few rounds hated the irons. Dispersion and distance very inconsistent, worse than my off the rack set. Thankfully I kept my old off the rack set and played just as well if not better. Sold the new irons after about six months and got close to what I paid. Always had my static measurements confirmed by a golf professional and used irons I liked without a fitting. Always felt fittings were over rated and now I'm convinced. Never again!

  11. Nobody hates golf more than professional golfer James Robinson… change the name of channel to James Moans

  12. Did he really say he does this once a year.. who in the he'll does that..
Or gets new clubs every year.. maybe a YouTuber or a pro…
    Maybe I'm x
    Crazy

  13. Im honestly suspicious of fittings in general. Obviously if u swing 100 mph u dont need a regular flex… I just kinda believe fittings are for the very best golfers… Swings change so much from day to day, week to week. And im decent at golf .. low 80s high 70s

  14. It’s a con unless the fitting takes place over a 2 day period off grass and 2 full rounds played-otherwise don’t wise your time

  15. Hope you enjoyed your trip to Edinburgh. The facilities and all the crew at SGGT are absolutely fantastic and I’d recommend them to anyone looking for new clubs. Definitely beats trying to guess what’ll work for you from eBay like I’d been doing for several years 🤦🏻‍♂️

  16. Has a ten handicap golfer who picked up and put down golf for about 55 years I think a golf fitting is all about how you swing on the day the better handicap the more consistent the swing becomes also you can’t beat grass 👍

  17. Fitting doesn’t effect your handicap. They have iron fitting completely wrong. Get a set with shafts that met your swing speed, make the lie angle 2 degrees flat. Get lessons to improve your swing to be able to hit a 2 degree flat iron. The rest is a total waste of money…

  18. Fittings are WAY overrated IMO. I made the huge mistake of going and getting fit after about a 10 year layoff from the game. Dumb dumb dumb. I think you are better off fitting yourself in irons. First, research all the products out there, maybe go to a golf store and put your hands 2 or 3 models you are interested in. Then I would buy a 7 iron (new or used) from those models and spend some time with them; preferably on the range or golf course. Take your time, one will come to the top. Driver fittings may be beneficial with all the crazy shafts out there, but for gods sake make sure you are swinging well (for you) before going. Mostly fittings are a money racket though and you are better off spending your money on lessons

  19. Have you ever done a review on Haywood irons, They have released new sv1 and sv2's would love to see something about them.

  20. A lot depends on who you are as a golfer and what you are willing to pay. Many fitters have a rudimentary understanding of the process but then they serve a customer base with inconsistent to just bad swings who want clubs to cure their ills and they want the process to be fast and cheap. So, a lot of places offer the fitting included with the cost of the clubs. Well, let's say you have a top notch fitter spending two to three hours with you. If you were taking lessons from a top tier pro you'd expect to pay $75 to $125 an hour an never blink an eye. But you see Golf Wonderland is including fittings for the cost of the clubs so you go there and a kid with limited experience and swing knowledge "fits" you in 45 minutes. That way the store can pay the kids salary and make money on the sale of the clubs. Whereas if you go to that new high end studio, Fastidious Fitters of Farnsworth, you get three hours and all the bells and whistles including an outdoor range and on site custom club assembly from each manufacturers component product line but it costs you $300 plus the price of the clubs. Fastidious Fitters goes out of business in six months because for all the talk about wanting a proper fitting no one actually wants to pay for one. There is only one place where I live that has managed to make it as a fitting studio that charges enough for the fitting to make a living and keep the lights on top of the club price. He does a 10% discount on the clubs though. But his success is in large part because the guy was the primary fitter of a large outdoor range facility for 15 years Pings fitter of the year about 10 years ago and a well know fitter for many local high end amateurs. So his business was built in.

  21. Fitting is total waste of money lol. Ive spent $100s on fittings from all the companies and the clubs always suck on the course. Its better to just find a demo day outside and test all the clubs stock and see which one you like the best. They really just comes down to feel not what the computer says.

  22. Said it many times to different clients……don’t spend the $ until you have a consistent swing…..this takes a lot of targeted practice…..they won’t tell you this because they’re in business to make a sale…!…..no quick fixes for an inconsistent swing.

  23. The fitting is still important. However, it is necessary to keep in mind certain points.
    1) you must try several brands. Because finding the best model for you of a brand does not necessarily mean that it is this club that you need.
    2) you have to do several fittings because for 80% of amateurs the swing can change from one day to the next.
    3) doing an indoor fitting on a carpet is very different from what happens on the course.
    4) Always start the fitting with your own clubs. You will be able to compare them to the others under exactly the same conditions.

Making a fitting is essential and will make you discover things you did not suspect and even most likely surprise you.

  24. James, I was looking at the La Golf L series shafts also. I was wondering how they effected your swing weights? I had heard they are counterbalanced. Have you had your irons checked for SW? Keep up the good work.

  25. I had that same 4 iron t100s problem, could hit it great off the tee, but really struggled off the deck, so went for a U510 4 iron, lighter shaft and never looked back

  26. The "youre not that guy" meme!!! 😂

Ive been meaning to sub for the last few months, kept forgetting. You are that guy!
