The 2009 TaylorMade Burner 3 Wood is likely just as cheap. And the 2014 Taylormade SLDR 3 Wood a couple of pounds more. So where will you spend your money. Probably on a wood that is 3 to 10 years old and still a bargain.
There's your technological advancement for you. 9 yards in 25 years. NINE. We are all being snookeredby the golf industry. I used to have a Burner Bubble 9.5 driver. Could hit it off the decl no problem, low beautiful rocket. But, the new beauties came out that massively increased distance. Right. We are worse than women with their purses and shoes. SMH.
Good video, James and Bobby. Will Bobby be Bobby all his life, or will he eventually be Bob, the more adult name for Robert or is his name Bobby named after a London copper? Just wondering.
I still have a Ti Bubble 2 driver somewhere in the closet. The "bubble" part of the shaft was a con job, meant to create "buzz." It was the tip-end that was more on the stiff side.
I started playing golf about 2 years ago I have a full set of these burners the 5 wood is an animal! I can’t part with them, they are advertised on happy Gilmore too 😂
£200 for 9 yards extra doesn't make sense. Why don't you pick a favourite club of when you were younger, and keep it in your bag for a while. I can't be a putter though.
Another great video. I'm a little older than you so I very much remember the bubble shaft and even have an after market bubble shaft replacement I purchased from Golf Works and never installed it. (I do my own club maintenance) I also have the grip installer for the bubble shaft. I also have a V-steel 3wood. I love these old school videos that take me back to my younger days when I had these clubs.
I once bagged a 1998 K-sole steel head 3 wood with a bubble shaft. It was fantastic for its time and almost as long as the 1998 K-sole titanium driver off the tee. Impossible the grip, though.
James, that very first sentence you said I absolutely agree with . Many golfers are missing a trick here, you’ve only got to look around and you’ll mind a bargain !! Mine recently, a Cobra F9 7 wood never been hit £130 totally changed my game 😀
I have two of the firesole drivers. You’ve convinced me go to the second hand shop and swap one out for a three wood. I also have a set of the first gen Burner bubble shafts that I take out and have a old school Bubbleshaft Burner round!
£200 extra for 9 yards, nah!!!! Love retro as you can see from my bag! Cleveland XL hi bore driver, Taylormade R5 Quad 3 wood, Callaway XR Speed 4 wood, Adams super S 19° hybrid, Adams A7 4 hybrid, Adams A7 irons, wouldn't change for the world!
They probably bought it for 50p. I had a new set of Taylormade p7cb 4-pw only 7 irons used rrp £1250, they offered me £480. They have the same set on their site all clubs used for a £1100. Yep I know you don’t have to accept the offer which I didn’t but just shows the robbery they are committing.
I have an old Ping Eye 2 5 wood that I bring out when my game is off. I've never hit any other 5 wood as well as it. Older clubs just carry a tad shorter, but I could care less what # is on the club, I just need it to go the distance needed.
Unless your a tour pro, stop spending big bucks on newer clubs. Spend your money on lessons, and more rounds of golf. Life is short, just play more golf and save some cash.
My dad still has his burner he got from someone for like $30 back when it released! He says its his favorite club of all time. Every time he tests new 3 woods, he expects the technology to make a difference, but most times, he ends up just thinking the burner is better suited for his swing. He took it out of the bag some time ago for a 7 wood, but is considering adding it back. Great club!

I still hit a 5wood and 7wood that are the old TM T200 and hit them better than any of the new ones i have tried
20 dollars for a beer here in US!? Must have been a gallon
Use G10 driver and rrescue, lost 5-10 yards on my golf mates but the fairways hit is incredible. Why not use the cheaper clubs you buy for the year?
I have a complete set of bubble shaft burners and am saving them for the day they become a collectors item. As luck has it, the grips are still OK.
Paid £5 for a mint 1997 version, lamkin make new grips for bubble shafts.

I’m gamed the driver and 3 wood back in the day James
These clubs will do the job but so will a 20 year old car , one bedroom apartment and a flip phone if you really want to save some money !!!
Of all the clubs that have changed in my bag, my Cobra Speedzone 3W remains.

I had the bubble shaft in the earlier model than you are using. It was the best 3 wood I ever had. Straight and long.

I still have my left handed Firesole Driver, 3, 5, and 7 woods with the bubble shaft

That 3 wood looked like it had been skied to shit
I still have a set of white aero burners 3 and 5 wood with the bubble shafts. But I remember the shafts in my ICW II's that I bought new in Jan 1993.
The bubble shaft was the dumbest gimmick ever. It was when I realized that's all taylor made was.

Revolutionary shaft which I remember, but I also remember no one had a clue what made it revolutionary !!

Got the La Jolla Knife 3 wood you featured recently – great fun club. Takes me back a while 🙂

Had the driver and 3 wood back in the day. Great clubs
i had the driver when it came out it was terrible lol ahh the memories
The current generation of super hot golf balls are making a lot of older clubs relevant.

I don't know which generation of that particular club I have But my 5W & 3W do not have a Bubble shaft in either one of my clubs. U need a picture?
Ping g440 LST fw wood £529 …..discuss

I still play my Cleveland Classic Driver, Mashie Fairway woods, 588T irons (1990s), and TA 900 wedges. It's the Indian not the arrow
I still have my 3 and 5 wood the burner bubble. One of the original bubble shafts.

Still have the 13° version of that in the garage. Used to hit it off the tee instead of a driver.
