Is the hammer throw a useful analogy for what you are saying about releasing ?
Does this interfere with trying to be more left side dominant? Loving the explanation otherwise! Thank you
Awesome summary Chuck!! I can't wait to try this great new summary!!
Yes yes yes! This is as clear an explanation to something that cannot be explained as I have ever seen or heard. You are a great communicator!!!
Spot on Chuck. You couldn’t have described it better.
Might have been better if you got your arse out of the chair ?
You're almost 50?! You look great for your age!
You've done it again! If there is one secret to a good golf swing, it is holding the trail arm lower than the lead arm in the downswing until just before impact. Lee Trevino called it the rubber band effect. I'm too old to get any kind of club head speed. I'm 77, but… if I'd realized this when I was younger, I wouldn't have all these ingrained bad habits I have.
Best explanation I ever heard on how the right arm and right hip works in the downswing.
Great explanation. Is there a link to the fascia webinar? Thanks in advance.
I’m gonna be like the guy that tried to tell you how tall you are. There’s no way on this Earth that you’re almost 50, I don’t believe it.
A few years back, you talked about whether you should push the pull through the to the down swing.
screen
I am left-handed and blow my hips with my. You have side period
Is this valid?Or should I try to fire with my right hip
Thank you. BTW your view is pretty great also 🙂
That was very well explained. Thanks..
Man Chuck, you are producing some awesome content! .. what's up with that? .. It's like you want everyone to play good golf !! .. 🤣
FYI, I too am 5'9" .. about 165lbs .. but I am now 62 .. I can still crank off a 300+ yard drive now and then though. My playing partners just can't believe it (I always out drive them).
Thanks Chuck !! .. you have helped a lot!
Title: “what the hands and wrist do”…. Then spending 99% talking about anything but the hands. Not saying it wasn’t accurate info, just that you need to already know what the hands and wrist do before watching this video for any of this to matter
I found that having a neutral-to-weak grip made it significantly easier to use my hands better and get in GDP. Lot of instructors these days encourage people to take a strong grip to negate a slice because many amatuer golfers have bad club paths but I found that the strong grip significantly impeded by ability to use my wrists correctly.
Greetings Chuck, I just joined your site a couple days ago and am looking forward to working through all your teachings. One quick question on this particular video. Should you go through the GDP position you show on your back swing too or only on the downswing? Hope my question makes sense.
I use a rope to practice the fast snap. The louder the swoosh, the faster swing. With one hand it´s easy, but with two hands you have to make a lot of things right to ceate the same speed.
Love the break down! 🙂
I see some similarity to good Ultimate Frisbee players' forehand throws. Everything is loaded back and released with a snap! (The big difference for me is the right wrist position – frisbee has it palm up which would leave the club face open, so I've sometimes thought about slapping the ball with my right palm.)
Worked on this today and finally broke 150 ball speed. Thanks Chuck.
Thanks, Chuck. I would love to see more lessons done in your SIM. Thank you.
By far best explanation.the word feel makes sense love this
It kinda sounds like Freddy Couples looks?
Tyler can you describe the wrist action in the snap. Looks like your doing something different. Thanks
Let me get this straight you believe I will be able to swing the club over 100mph I’m 61 and in good shape current average SS is about 93 on my friends simulator only carrying it between 200-210 got 216 one day I’ve played for 35 years but for the last 6 haven’t played much because of grandkids 😂 but I can’t stand it never been a long hitter probably carried it 250 in my best years I’m a low single digit player but playing from senior tees if I could make better contact and increase my SS to over 100 I got BS around the 130 but would love to be over 150 I’m thinking about getting your program I don’t like coaches who are all technical so I like the sound of you teaching by feel Asking does someone have to see you in person to get those gains or will I get it with the program Thanks
Amen 🙏🏾 🙏🏾 So glad to someone with SM traction is finally sharing this concept.
Were you like John Daly, or Jack who famously said…."I could ALWAYS hit it long"….GIFTED from the get go?….There is an old saying in baseball…I think it's true in our sport as well.."You can teach hitting….you CAN'T teach power"….
Love your theory, my only issue is my hips stop turning as I come into impact.
Just to be clear, when you say swing over 100 mph, you mean the explosion point (release) is 100 mph not the swing per se? In other words, everything before the release is probably much slower than 100?
