I just double checked, but rounds played by normal people exploded during the pandemic, and still rose during 2024 from what I can find. Golf popularity is at an all time high. Golf youtube is crushing. Golf instagram and tiktok too. Netflix's Full Swing was a large success. The PGA needs to get it's boring ass on all the normal streaming platforms like Netflix, and Prime, and get more cameras going like a Youtube golf match. Coverage needs to modernize.
1) that mustache is absolutely glorious. 2) 100% agree with JT on this one.
We had a Korn Ferry Q-School event not five miles from me. Not advertised.
Why isn't Golf Channel showing these events on the scroll during shows like this one? The Farmer's Pre-Q was last week. Did anyone even know about it? I would have gone.
For TV, I would also encourage more televised conversations with the caddies going into their shots. You could see JT on Tuesday trying to be more interactive with his conversations and even giving a flag to a kid at the end of the show.
Please, please, please, recruit Johnson and Rex to replace Matt and Max on TGL before no one is left to watch it. Thankfully I DVR the TGL broadcast, and skip all the commercials, playing thru, wiz bang effects and hype, but I mostly, mostly I skip past both of those loser on air “personalities”, using quotes because they basically don’t have one. I know it’s early days, but if it keeps going down this road with the two M’s its not gonna go far.
