Takomo are temu irons with a stamp of there brand on it, at least these have some technology to help the average golfer. I can’t stand people talk about takomo irons like they some Japanese forged irons they are not
Fitted they will cost you $1500 in the USA.
Cobra got a good looking club. Always a little less expensive than the other big brands. Great for beginners and seniors
I'm a Korean watching in Vietnam. I applaud your passion for uploading videos almost every day😊😊😊
They are cheap looking and jacked up. Get them off a wet semi lie and they will spin at 2000. Unplayable.
Ram are quietly pushing out a set of hollow bodied irons in the 3 to 400 pound bracket. Would love to see a test of these to see what a true budget set from a recognised (*if not a little forgotten) brand can do
And here I am ordering a custom srixon set for $2k . But hey, you do you.
I was fit for mizuno MP30 irons in 3-pw when they came out and am still using them, they cost me £399, today id be looking at £1300 minimum for 4-pw, this is exactly why i haven't changed clubs. I buy 2nd hand drivers and fairways for the same reason, Ridiculous prices.
Cobra is so innovative! Cast irons are getting closer to forged feel and sound!
Still have my original first release King Cobra's from 1995. Have every club from 1 iron through 60 degree. IMO, some of the best irons ever made (the gap, sand and lob wedges were terrible however). Still do play with them at times and played my best golf with them.
I would say that these clubs aren't for someone at your skill level.
Great looking iron and a great review
BOBS BACK !!!
These irons would be good for Mid-handicap Dave! Senior golfers who've lost club head speed need powerful irons.
I’ve recently bought Cobra Forged Tec from 2020 (thanks to Golf Clubs 4 Cash) and they are gorgeous. I wanted a bit of extra beef than my JPX921’s could offer and was prepared to sacrifice a bit of feel. To be honest, yes I have got the distance but no, I haven’t lost any feel at all. I play off 11 at the moment. Cobra have really delivered and should get far more credit than they do. Great review James.
Aren't the lofts ridiculously strong…..like a club and half?
It just proves they can sell for less, but they have been riding the wave of big profits, keeping shareholders happy, at the expense of golfers wallets getting slimmer, with each OTT sale made.
We forget, a standard set used to be 9 irons, and had been for many decades, but they have reduced the number of irons given as a standard set, from 9 to 7, with some going down to 6, over the last 10yrs, but the prices have steadily increased year on year, at well above inflation rates in most nations. The DTC brands, are hitting them where it hurts, and they need to fight back, otherwise, the DTC market will keep growing, at the expense of the bigger brands losing more market share.
these look similar to the adams idea irons from 2023
As a slower swinger, sub 80mph, these irons are not suitable. I need height not power lofts with low spin. I'm carrying all cobra fairways and hybrids, but I won't be buying the irons. No point in playing a 7 iron that runs through the green. Ping G's with retro lofts are more suitable for me.
Cleveland xl irons is performance on a budget.
xxio, srixon, cleveland- quality.
i would put them in my bag…. but with my handicap that isnt too high an endorsement 🤣
Hi James, I'm just getting back into golf 36 years old and bought the cobra aerojet irons and woods. I've got a bad back and have a slow swing speed and these irons are perfect for me with the lofts. Go the expected distances. Definitely more for slower swing players or the casual golfer after forgiveness and but help with distance
Is nobody else bothered about the new Cobra range? Adapt, a word that’s usually associated with equipment, cars, rooms in a a house that are adapted for people who need extra help. Not sexy
Heres the problem, Direct to consumer(DCT), your getting loads of tech and forged. If there any clubs that are close to the DTC irons is the Wilson dynapower forged for price
I have 5 wedges in total. 60 56 and 52 wedges and then gap and pitching from the set. Use the 2020 cobra forge tech with mim wedges 🎉🎉🎉
I would say at 800 US I’m going to spend $200 more and buy the Meno if they were in the price range of 5 to 600 then it might be more tantalizing to me but at that price I’m just gonna spend a few more dollars and get something that I know is really good
Here’s the question: Why would somebody buy these for $1000 when you can get the Takomo 101 for less than $500? I’m not saying these clubs are bad or anything. I just don’t understand the logic here? And if you’re dead set on Cobra, buy some Aerojets. They are going for $350-400 and do the same exact thing these clubs do. These manufacturers are clearly not reading the room here.
Why haven't you addressed the club and ball speed on your simulator? Very annoying! Otherwise I love James Robinson Golf indoors on the GolfZon!
🐊🏌⛳️🦅🇺🇸💯
Im sorry but since when is a $1000 set of clubs, a "budget club". A budget club is half that price for the set. Gotta stop normalizing this garbage.
who make syour golf shoes?
Do they still make a one length version?
Very rare do I do this but I’d like to address a few comments here on price. Here in the UK you can get these irons for £660. A set of Takomo’s will cost you £500. So can we please have a little bit of common sense in the comments section when saying how much of an idiot I am? Thanks 😂😂😂😂
These irons don't fit the segment I'm looking for personally. I got rid of my players improvement irons last year for a set of Sub 70 639 CB's. They're just a really clean looking small head cavity back forged iron. it provides a tiny amount of forgiveness and confidence looking down at the ball over a blade, but not much in comparison to these chunky bulbous clubs. and I got mine fully fitted and customized for $480.00 during a major championship weekend. (Sub 70 runs amazing deals during majors!) Until there's a big brand offering a club in that segment for sub $800 fully fitted and customized, no one is touching the D to C market…
Yeah…but……Cobra ain't Takomos 😂
I'm a cobra guy. Lofts? what was the gap? Sounds like they would be a great beginner set.
Nice looking iron tbh, i went 923 hotmetals about 18 months ago and plan on keeping them another few years maybe longer, but thinking of switching to aerojet or a darkspeed driver as ive just got a areojet 7wood, you can find 1-2 year old stuff at really good prices, if people are on a budget getting a new set that are a year old on sale could be a way to save even more money and normally not a big difference in performance, think these are reasonably priced i paid £808 5-pw for my mizunos,
Great review there James, made me chuckle when you realised it was a 5i….
The huge distances are definitely an issue as you brought up, I'm looking at new irons this year and trying to find irons with loft that isn't as strong, so that I don't need half a bag full of wedges.
