  1. God I love Gael. Such a pleasure to seem him making this GS run in the sunset of his career. Is the "impossible" dream alive? Could Monfils yet win a GS?!

  2. In the battle of Novak toys, the older Novak toy shows his class 😉 Would be absolute magic if we get a Novak-Gael final, as fanciful as that is with Sinner in Gael's half, and both Alcaraz AND Zverev in Novak's half. Hoping Monfils crushes the always irritating Shelton tomorrow — if Gael can beat GMP handily, and easily neutralize (an admittedly below par) Fritz serve, Shelton's serve shouldn't threaten him much. Allez Gael!!!

  3. @AO, Please stop putting the winner on your thumbnail! Some of us don't know who won yet so you're spoiling it for us!!!

  4. FRITZ IS SO 1 DIMENTIONAL, ALWAYS HITTING IT TO GAELS STRENGTHS. I MEAN MONFILS STANDING WAY BACK BEHIND THE BASELINE AND HE DON'T TRY NO DROPS, SO POOR. SO SO AVERAGE.

  5. Monfils and Svitolina, husband and wife, beating the number 4 seeds, in the same 3rd round. This is some mad level of upsets, and upside for the family.🎉🎉

  6. This hardcourt surface seems very slow. This point was in fact mentioned by Pegula. She said she felt it was even slower than clay. I have watched some highlights and kind of agree. If so, that means big hitters will have trouble making winners from the baseline.
Monfils is not hitting big at all here. Most of the time he rather places shots than hitting big. For one thing, he is not young. If he keeps hitting big and trying to make winners, especially in this slow court, he will be out of gas soon. He also positions himself behind the baseline further a bit so can catch some winner-grade shots. It gives him extra time to reach the shots because of the slowness of shots after they bounce. His tactics worked really well. I am sure all the players are aware of this condition and discussing this with their team. I am wondering how this court condition affects all the players who are still in. Who would be the beneficiaries and disadvantaged? This could be a bit disadvantageous for Sinner. Alcaraz may be favored because of the variety of his game style. It may be easier for him to find solutions in various challenging situations. I am not sure about Djokovic. He typically places shots rather than hitting big. But he is not young, either. It will be interesting how it is progressing from here.

  7. What a victory for Gael Monfils, a very good win and he celebrated at the end of the match which proves he was feeling delighted with himself, the win and the performance at the Australian Open. A big victory and that means now G Monfils is still in the hat for the championship as he could WIN the Mens' Singles 2025 Australian Open. Monfils has to try his best now as big matches come he could find himself playing the best tennis professionals this season in the latter rounds because he has won the early rounds so he is now in the mix and goin to the crucial parts and matches of the Australian Open so it is time to deliver and the question now is this one, can Gael Monflis do his best and challenge for glory at the 2025 Australian Open?

  8. i curse humanity for still not inventing a camera capable of capturing good shots with extreme dynamic range in light. his celebration was supposed to be the that cinematic moment. still, what matters is the content. i´m being picky
