Home golfer James Kariuki returned from a golf sabbatical to win the Murdoch University Open at the par-71 Muthaiga Golf Club course on Wednesday. Kariuki win came off a score of 66 nett, playing off a handicap of 28 as former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung’u finished as the men’s runner-up with a score of 67 nett. In the Ladies’ category, Nancy Ndungu took the top spot with a score of 69 nett, ahead of Vice Lady Captain Beatrice Soy. John Gitonga recorded 74 gross points to win the Gross prize with a slow but steady performance. Youngster Allan Muthonjia claimed the Junior prize with a score of 100 nett while playing off a handicap of 24. The winners for the nines were Anthony Saiti and Adil Suleman, achieving scores of 30 and 29 nett, respectively
