  1. I was a caddy when the Ping Eye 2 was new and really popular at the club I was working at. I loved those clubs myself. But tbh, most of us caddy’s, especially the experienced ones, would try to avoid looping for the guys that had them. Because usually, those were the worst players in the group and they only bought the Ping irons so they had the “latest and greatest” compared to the rest of the foursome.
Experienced caddy’s at that time would try and get on a bag that had Wilson Staff blades or some old Hogan blades…clubs like that. Because usually golfers that were good played those old school clubs. And as a caddy, I’d rather loop for a guy that’s not spraying shots all over the place and losing half of his golf balls through 18 holes. You end up walking twice as many yards as you should have to when you’re caddying for someone that just has a membership to take clients to dinner and a round of golf, compared to the members that joined so they could play golf as well as do some business.
I’m 48 years old now and still love to caddy. Especially now that I caddy for high level players. It’s exciting being on the bag and helping the golfer read the green or measure the yardages and stuff like that. It’s a rewarding feeling when you know a little trick or tip for a certain course or certain shot that helps the player you’re caddying for. Especially when that little “tip” puts them in a position to be able to make some money that week.
I’m kinda an old man now, at least my body feels that way after being an infantry Marine and a disabled veteran. But I would love to keep caddying. I would have no problem caddying at the local country club with members of all levels of ability. I’d do it for free even! I’m retired. I don’t need money. But I doubt they’d want an old man like me doing a job that they hire kids to do. I think I’d end up being the butt of everyone’s jokes if I went back to caddying again at a country club. 🤷🏻‍♂️. But that really was one of my favorite things about golf…just being out on the course.

  2. James, I don’t think anyone has ever commented on the real effect of the toe weight in these Ping irons. Would be a good video to do showing how changing the toe weight can impact the ball flight?

  3. I think reviewing clubs right now must be hard. I just went through my first full fitting. I couldn't believe how all of the irons were amazing. I didn't swing any bad clubs. It finally came down to personal preferences and loft availability. I get what people are saying about James' reviews, but manufacturers are doing such a good job it is hard to find fault with club performance right now. If you are lucky enough to be shopping for next seasons irons right now, I am envious of you. It looks to be an amazing season between the new editions and last year's models you have an embarrassment of riches.

  4. In two years, when the Ping g450s come out, they will be wider and taller and James will be doing a review that says the same thing as this, plus "because they are larger, they inspire a lot more confidence."

  5. Very confusing review. One minute they are soft and the best irons ever but then they are hard and not as forgiving as expected. Looks like any other iron if you ask me and doesn’t perform any better than prior years models.

  6. Tbh it's hard to find a bad club now. tech has come on so much even a set of Costo Kirklands aint bad

Get fit then it comes to preference brand alliance etc

  7. Good review James. Really helpful to me as looking to upgrade after a few lessons and this is one of my choices to look at. Last set of irons I bought was about 5/6 yrs ago now, so my swing and game has changed a fair amount.
    Good honest review.👍

  8. James, for a while now, I've been trying to figure out who you remind me of… It's a younger Rod Harrington 😂 (Darts player)

  9. Personally I'm surprised he's hitting balls into partially frozen Greens. Surely greens should be protected at the time of year when they get frozen.

  10. seriously underwhelming review, 30y front to back dispersion with the 4 iron, appreciate you mis hit a good percentage but wow

  11. Ballspeed and Clubspeed in Meters per Second is a totally useless number. Can you do MPH like the rest of the earth?

  12. Shocking results, I've never seen you struggle with strike consistency this much with any over clubs, they look so hard to strike clean

  13. I'm the biggest golf nut with equipment coming out every year and always switching. I must say… I am fed up and finally over all this b.s coming out every year. All the same claims BLAH BLAH BLAH, Prices are LUDICROUS, NOTHING changes for results. It's what u wanna look down at. You can play a driver and irons that came out 10 years ago just the same, if not better, than anything out nowadays. Golf has a serious problem with equipment and something needs to change. I'm over it and I can't believe I'm saying that… God my wallet and myself are proud lol.
