The spin numbers on the standard and max heads (at least for me) in the Qi35 was what impressed me. A couple of years ago I ended up going with a Stealth2 Plus even though I am not exactly a blaster of the golf ball because the Max and even regular heads were putting up spin numbers of 3500 to 4000. The only way to keep the spin numbers under 3000 was with that less forgiving head. Even the Qi10 had similar issues although it was a bit better.
The Qi35 Max and regular seemed to, at least for me, have figured out how to get spin numbers into the reasonable category for me. I swung the Max earlier this week and was impressed that I could get spin rates around 2500-3000 consistently with a much more forgiving head. I'm probably not going to change drivers this year since it probably isn't worth the 650 dollars for an upgrade but it is nice to know the direction the manufacturers are going.
1:12 “Joe Ferguson has gotten his hands on” Oh dear, I wanna be ‘Mercan. How about be proud to be British and write accordingly?
Joe, good video, really enjoy the club reviews. Which fairway/driver for 2025 is the one not to be ignored in your opinion? What will be the hot seller?
G440 plays with a higher launch. To compare you have to lower the loft by a degree and you would have hit it at least 12 yards longer.
I always would prefer the Taylor Made driver over the Ping. The reason is simple : i hate the view on them ping driver. In my opinion it's there worst driver everyone constructed. But that's subjective.. I think i would order a titleist driver, maybe a GT3…
Who cares about the underside of the driver head? The grass?
Youre not comparing apples to apples Max v standard, wtf
Maybe just the way the video brings it across, but that Ping is screaming “duck hook”. Run away.
Ouch, that is not low on the heel. That is off the planet low heel. Surprised that gives a playable ball.
So you wrote prior that you prefer dull thud. And here you give it to ping cause it is more tingy. Hmm , so I am guessing that Ping won’t win any more points and you tossed the bone to ping to keep them off your back…
When is ping going to get rid of the dumb things on top of head
Surely tge sound at impact under a driving range roof is irrelevant to how it will sound out in the open….
How fast.do you have to swing to use a the LS model
My dad's name is Joe Ferguson, haha
Not being critical, but your swing doesn't look very fast and you're generating 173+ ball speed? May I ask your swing speed?
I bought g410 g425 but I went back to my g400 that will stay in 2025
You already had your mind made up. Should have just went with just saying you liked the Taylor made, mostly by saying right from the start, the look of a race car. You didn't even have to swing. Very bias review.
Nice video. The taylormade is really stealthy looking and the ping i think is beautiful with the blue on the sides.
Performance would be the answer to me. Which i hit better?
Great as usual JTP , cant wait to see you using the TM on a course vlog.
Where's the dispersion comparison?, Did I miss it or did your forget.
If the Ping G440 had the slick carbon -top head look of the Qi35 ..it would be absolutely Perfect….
Neither one of these for me….i don’t like the look of the Ping and I’m still not sold on a glued on carbon face. So far Cobra are the best for me this year
I don't like the two material head to be honest. You either go with Matt finish completely or carbon for the whole driver but having it split it's kind of funny. I find it a bit distracting. I mean it shouldn't affect the way the club performers or anything like that, but I just don't like the look of it and I think the look of a driver down when you look at it is really important. I couldn't find many matt finish drivers actually to be honest. I eventually settled on the Callaway rogue which I really like. I just don't like shiny finishes on clubs because there's glint from the sun as well which I find annoying but the numbers will say the ping is really good.
Dispersion should be a key driver I'd think
Did TM fix the problem with the face coming out and/or cracking
I still have the G400 and looking at both of this to buy soon
I wouldn't waste my $ on either, hate carbon faces & detest Turbulators.
From what ive seen on YouTube the callaway seems to be the best performing….most tests have shown it lauching higherthan the TM and producing a bit more ball speed…loft for loft about 5 yards longer for the same input…..but im sure they can all be set up to produce the same results
You are excellent in this job Joe 👍
Don't we need to see swing speed to see how it translates in to ball speed and carry?
From the beginning you could see the subtle bias in the Taylormade coming out as the winner – lol
They are basically the same as last year
Ping 10k vs TM Max
Joe, would the Ping LS have given a more like for like comparison ? Especially for your level of golfer
Neither are that great. We've really come to the end of development within the current rules and each year the statements of: "More yards and more accurate" might just apply to a pro player but really are all just hyped up words to try and sell us the next thing that costs almost half a normal annual club membership! Especially by the time any custom fitting is done.
What about shot dispersion? Which driver was better?
Ping is milking the design of the G30 driver .. I see nothing new in the Ping lineup since then . Taylormade is clearly the better product
Nope… carbon is low quality, cost cutting dreck being sold as "high tech".
I will be passing on buying a new driver until the manufactures return to the more durable, all titanium build.
So he prefers the sound and feel of the Ping and the forgiveness but still chooses the Qi35 which only won on looks and distance. What a waste of time.
Nice review mate, cheers.
Should have compared the LST to match spin, still forging as well
Not a fan of taylormade new drivers out every year but
With the Ping fit so poorly the result is tarnished.
Can u compare one of these to 2-3 year old previous models? I bet there will be less than 2% difference in total distance
I'm a Ping driver user. I've had 4-5. I think the TaylorMade looks better but looks doesn't hit the ball.
Just picked up a used 430 from a golf store trying to get them out. Love it when new models come in. 🤣
So how much were you paid to push one or the other of these $600 drivers? Why don't you talk about a year or 2 older one that can be bought for half the price buy those guys who must have the newest o they can hit the ball just like th epros who use them for free. What a waste of time this was.
Interesting he says the ping performed well out of the heel… according to CoolClubs robot testing….it seems to perform fairly poorly out of the heel….while the toe its a rock star.
It made for a good video, but there is no way that these two clubs are as close as you pretend to call it. You cannot consider a driver spinning over 3,000 RPMs at all for the bag. On performance alone, the TaylorMade has to be the outright winner easily.
