Live where one of golf’s greatest legends once called home. Arnold Palmer’s former Southern California estate is up for grabs for $5 million.
Palmer, who passed away at the age of 87 in 2016, was known as “The King” in golf and one of the first golf superstars of the television age. He has won many championships, including four Masters and 62 PGA Tour titles, among many others. The sports legend has a golf tournament named after him—the Arnold Palmer Invitational at the Bay Hill Club and Lodge in Florida—and has also designed numerous courses around the world. That includes the course at Tradition Golf Club, where his house is located. The private Tradition Golf Club in La Quinta, California, part of Coachella Valley near Palm Desert and Palm Springs, features one of the top Palmer-designed courses and a number of ultra-luxury homes that take advantage of the perfect weather and mountain and golf course vistas.

Palmer built this retreat in 1999 and owned it until his death. His second wife’s friend Louise Bellisimo purchased the home from the family in 2022 and, after donating many of Palmer’s original furniture pieces and personal items to his charity, she completed a tasteful renovation of the space that further capitalized on the views of the Santa Rosa Mountains and brought the design to current day. Now, the home features warm, contemporary design with several modern updates. The 2,617-square-foot property sits on just under an acre and has four bedrooms, three full bathrooms, and one powder room across one level. The hacienda-style home is swathed in vines and surrounded by immaculate landscaping with native plants and blooming, vibrant flowers.

According to the listing, Palmer selected this parcel for its location to the clubhouse, as well as its mountain and golf course views. It exudes true Southern California charm from the moment you step foot through the sun-drenched entrance and wooden front door. Inside is an open-concept living space with soaring 16-foot-high wood-beamed ceilings, a fireplace, dining area, seating, floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open directly to the covered patio with yet another fireplace and picture-perfect views. The backyard has a stunning private lawn with palm trees and views of the course in the distance. It’s ideal for entertaining large and small groups. The home sits on the second fairway of the club’s short course. It was here on this very short course that Palmer would practice his short game.

Under new ownership, the layout has slightly changed. The primary suite, which Palmer once used as his personal office, has a fireplace alcove with seating and a spa-like bathroom. The entire home features a neutral color palette with dark wood and tiling. The remodeled primary bedroom also has been recently outfitted with custom built-in cabinets, Axor fixtures, limestone countertops, and a walk-in closet. The additional guest bedrooms, equally as sumptuous, are located on another wing of the house, which awards plenty of privacy for homeowners in the primary suite.
Finally, the kitchen has been outfitted with state-of-the-art cabinetry from DeWils, countertops from Cesarstone, and appliances from Fisher and Paykel. As part of the sale, there are two leather armchairs once used by Palmer. The home is listed with Tamara Baron of Desert Sotheby’s International Realty.
