Let’s face it, there are a million and a half videos on how to release the golf club. This video is the outlier of all of those. In this video, Riley describes how to create a stable, strong, effortless, and precise release that will having you controlling the golf ball at the highest level.
This video describes how and why various players on the PGA Tour and LIV Tours look different through the ball and the potential pros and cons of different movements during the swing.
Get ready to dive deep and thoroughly understand the entire downswing and release in the golf swing! Drop questions or comments below. It helps us better understand what we can help you with! Cheers!

Forget "Blinded by the light" I'm blinded by the lime!
I'd recommend eliminating use of these complicated sounding types of planes, maybe even with a separate video because I checked out fairly quickly. Obviously this works for some people, I'm not one of them and I'd imagine I'm not alone in that.
Could a feel for this be pin the lead arm pit to body on take away and feel gap in that spot on downswing?
How does a 19 handicap player (me) put all that information into an easy to do drill?
Cheers

You guys have helped me more than you could know! Much love from the UK. Best instructional content out there, bar none! Send me a patreon link or something so I can show some love!
Also, appreciate the return of the intro music 🎶👌
Very interesting comparison of release patterns. The Hovland method would appear to bring the handle into a position target side of the lead knee at P7, which will give effortless shaft lean; the Rose method could more easily lead to a flip, if not done correctly. Is this a correct understanding?
Using the Hovland method the follow through appears to be identical to a windshield wiper tennis forehand, where the face of the racquet remains facing the target far longer, thereby giving greater stability, with the arm moving upwards after contact as you described. Is this an accurate analogy? Must give this a try tomorrow. Many thanks.
Excited to hear the videos will be coming back more frequently. I am in the industry myself and what you guys provide is absolute gold!
A video where you discuss this difference between iron and driver swings…your take on it would be great
This is another great video and thank you. l had been following/watching you guys and to me what you guys are teaching in theory it's like David Duval's swing and that is probably the best swing to me because l do accidently do it but not sure how lol. l am a confused/stuck on a sling/throw type as on now. Even what you are explaining l probably can apply it to a "push feel swing". When l do the "push feel swing" it feels as my right shoulder (trail) is doing the power as it anchors the hands etc through the swing. Thanks a lot looking forward to some more videos this year and happy new year.
Hovland's method seems to put more stress on the spine, or am I wrong?
This is gold. The best golf coach channel I’ve seen.
I am watching the turn, and noticing the club head stay high. Is there any wrist action that is done consciously to get the head down to the ball or would it be done solely by the inertia?
Exceptional content!
Approximately 8 months ago, you released another video entitled, “how to release the golf club”. (That was awesome as well). In that video, you talked about having a lead hip pivot (like Rory) or a trail hip pivot (like Hovland). when releasing the club. This was a concept that really stuck with me…do you teach your students either option?
If you could expand/offer more of your knowledge on this concept, i think it would help many viewers.
Thank you for taking the time in doing these videos. Absolutely fantastic!

This channel deserves millions subs, love it❤
Thanks Riley, appreciate you sharing your knowledge for free 🙏🏽 been working with Milo and the crew online for 3 years, I also watch you because I feel you guys are teaching the same overall patterns.
Could you possibly do a video on the pelvis? I’ve been struggling with my trail hip/leg firing into the ball for years. When I get the squeeze move I play great golf. Plus handicap but still struggle with that trail hip lol
Good one, brother..
I’ve always been over the top guy but have controlled it but I cannot trap the ball for more distance. I have been trying to shallow the club more with wrist rotation but my sequence is all over the place. So I will give this technique a try cause it makes sense. Also one of my big issues is using my arms too much at impact. I’m consciously trying to use more I’ve my body first. It’s a hit and miss of course but again, I’ll try it.
Is this how hogan as well release it? when i saw his release it doesnt seems he break the structure of his hands and similar at address.
Where's TEEJ?
??? I m with u on the drop, sit – turn club will square. What are ur thoughts on jumping after the sit? Prop need to throw jump out but wanted ur thought. Jump in or out???
Probably the best communicator in the biz. I've learned so much here. Many thanks.
Not complicated enough. You ought to use more P numbers and planes. The best is lettering the subdivisions. Mac O’Grady would shit all over you.
Don't you think a lot of the differences between say hovland and rose can be attributes to gri. Hoblands being stronger?
Thank you…with this valuable content that you're BLESSING us with…I am praying you are being blessed in return…the rise in this instruction….will achieve new heights in 2025…stay the course…. again thank you!
Epic as usual. We still have some lead arm abduction (and trail adduction) during the “hit” phase, not just lead arm lift, right? Cannot wait to try this tomorrow. You guys are killing it. 🙏
O okay, I got some reps to do – sending this to my golf coach. Hopefully help my swing awareness…I have a tendancy to have a flat takaway – possibly my body’s attempt to match the corona plane?
Letsss goooo been TOO LONG
Rose is a former world number 1 and major winner, so be all means promote your own swing theory, but dont try and discredit another swing technic that has actually performed under pressure and won at the highest level.
Couldn't really chip dropping the club on the coronal plane, could you?
Seems like would be different swing.
Club on coronal plane, same as my old baseball swing? Lol
Firstly, you are an incredible communicator and I can't walk away from any of your talks without running off and grabbing a club. True talent as a presenter and instructor.
Secondly, this reminds me quite a bit of Scott Cowx's "Cobra" pattern, or the hackmotion Option B type of pattern. I've played around with this pattern in the past, but have struggled with releasing the club or getting stuck in this pattern. What is the preferred grip matchup you would like to see with this action? Any particular setup pieces you view as non-negotiable to support this pattern?
Whenever I've gone down this path, I end up with excessive flexion in my lead hand through impact, things get way too delofted, speed dips, and the amount of clearance I need to create in my lower body seems unsustainable. Big time stuck and strain on the trail shoulder in how external I seemingly needed to get, and the club just wouldn't release. Like the geometry just doesn't want to add up and I couldn't find the feels to make it function.
I've gone down the biomechanics rabbit hole, and I naturally have a more on top fold pattern that likes to get behind the midline and punch out. Very long arms in relation to the rest of my body. Is this pattern just potentially poison for someone like me? I understand you have preference for this pattern, but who shouldn't move towards this pattern?
