Is this the best Mini Driver on the market?

In this video I got my hands on the brand new PXG Secret Weapon Mini Driver to see how it performs. PXG are claiming it is 9% longer and 41% more forgiving than their Black Ops 3-Wood. So is this true? And is it worth you giving this a try this golf season?

  1. I remember that tee shot Hannah and you need something forgiving. Personally I've just up'ed the loft on my Mizuno Max driver but will look to try the PXG

  2. I just ordered a Secret Weapon but after watching this I am confused about your smash factor results. USGA limits smash factor to 1.5, anything above 1.5 would be considered non-confirming. Hopefully it's just an error in your launch monitor. Thanks for your review!

  3. Only thing I don’t understand about mini drivers is why an amateur would ever use one. Might as well get a driver fitted with more loft as it would be more forgiving and as for hitting of the deck I rarely see a weekend warrior capable of hitting 3wd off the deck let and most should use 5wd. I get it for a pro who want an option of the tee that doesn’t go as far but that’s not an amateurs problem.

  4. Great video, thank you.
Would you consider making a video on premium driver shafts (Graphite Design, Ventus, etc.)?

  5. Good work Hannah. Bet you are not missing the weather here. Enjoy. Great review of an excellent club.

  6. The titleist tsr2+ does execatly the same job.. 13 degree and half the price… Best club ive used in years..

  7. Excellent review – best I've seen of the new PXG Secret Weapon. Some pretty damn good results too.
Did a quick Google search and as usual got an eye-opener when I saw the price LOL
    Keep up with the vlogs.
    Cheers

  8. You seemed to describe my issues nicely; I struggle hitting driver and it gets me in trouble a lot, so I tee off with 3W a lot but my strong 3W doesn't have a lot of forgiveness. Having a club like this that gives more forgiveness than the typical fairway and because of the shorter shaft lets me square it up more than driver makes it an appealing option! It could replace those 2 clubs in my bag if I switched out my current 5W for a 4W to have better gapping. My only issue with this new offering is the price- here in the US, it's listed at US$449!

  9. I think it wrong that you sell yourself out to push a $469 club. Is it because you are paid off by PXG? there are other of 13* clubs available at reasonable prices.

  10. These mini drivers are intriguing but if your motivation to get one is that you can't hit driver, cut 1.5" off the driver, crank up the loft and change you game for a lot less $$$.

  11. Great video Hannah. I’ve recently been fit for the Black Ops irons and was already booked in at the London PXG centre for the Black Ops driver but now going to have a hit with this to see how it compares.

  12. in my golf course my most used club is my 3 wood but its lofted more like a 4 wood so this might replace my useless hybrid i think need to try it first

  13. HH where are you, it’s 20 degrees here! I haven’t got the blue wedge yet and you have me talked into another one. lol Dr Gus Greenfield approved!

  14. wow, that mini fits you nearly perfectly. Have you ever tried a 460 driver with that length shaft? Might be an even better weapon. I don't completely understand these kinds of clubs for myself, but I do love how adjustable PXG woods have gotten with those quadrant weights and loft-lie sleeves. Thanks for the review!

  15. Excellent video, I'm a fan of the mini drivers, when you're not hitting driver well. Some people think take off 1.5 inches off your driver, but maybe some days you may want that extra 1.5 inches on driver. If there was only a way to grow the 1.5 inches back on your main driver. The mini driver offers you that option on days when your not hitting driver well.

  16. Hi, have written previously about your test last year with TM and Callaway Minis, but note that the size is getting larger from the initial releases 10 – 11 years ago. Having had a TM SLDR @ 14* the size of the head was 260cc, most now are getting towards and over 300cc.

  17. Great video Hannah .. enjoy the great course and weather in Spain … I'm going to demo PXG mini driver this weekend and see how it goes … your site is top shelf keep up the outstanding work

  18. I'm a huge fan of TM Mini Drivers, having played four generations of them. I don't see how this PXG club is any different from a juiced-up 3-wood.

As I age (and I have become OLD!), the difference betwen my custom-fitted driver and my TM Burner Mini has diminished tremendously. I'm one driver (TM Q35?) away from dumping the driver comptely in favor of the TM Mini. I do not see the advantage of this club over that one. Money is not an object with me, so I'd dump one in favor ot the other.
