Bought some used balls
Finally! Someone with the same yardage/distances that I have
And choose the correct tee boxes to hit from. Me and my ego aren’t quite there yet.
What a beautiful golf course! Can you please share the name of it? Great video by the way!
Tour average from 100 yds out is 17 feet. If we as amateur golfers are on the green anywhere we should be really happy. The best thing we can do to improve our score is to really work on our lag putting. Short game is the number one part of our game we should practice the most. I've got my handicap down to 7 this year by working on chipping and putting. Good luck.
Ironically I just had a conversation with a golf buddy that after chasing distance a year ago, I ran my average score up about 7-8 strokes. I had gotten down to breaking 85 consistently, then started shooting 90+ over & over trying to hit driver longer off the tee. The number one cause was due to penalties, mostly off the tee. But I got back to the basics a few months ago and I’m focused on conservative tee shots to avoid penalties, really practicing approach shots inside 175yds, refocusing on my best skill and that’s chipping around the green, and realizing that being good at lag putting is the best way to avoid 3 putts. Last round I played, shot 81 with no penalties, 2 chip ins, and had an abnormal round with 3 birdies; but I did have 1 double bogey.
I appreciate your positive attitude. I also like that your distances are realistic and yet you can still break these scoring barriers. Finally, your strategy and advice are sold! Thank you for the good content!
I really like your teaching style. I'm 63 now. 35 years ago I shot 76 at one of the local courses. 25 years ago an old football injury on my right knee started getting to me, my scores declined. 18 months ago I had a total knee replacement. Now I'm on a quest to reclaim shooting in the 70's. I may not get there, but your enthusiasm will help me try. Thanks!
Excellent as usual. Hey, is that a See More putter ?
Great video MSH! Your lag putting is always excellent which takes pressure off the 2nd putt! Keep up the great work! Brian
Lots of great course management thoughts here!!!!!
A few videos back, you were saying how far you hit your clubs. The Driver was 212 yards (or something like that). I commented about being surprised that was as far as you hit the driver. I thought it should have been further, somewhere in the 235 to 250 range. I think I misunderstood the distances. Those must have been CARRY distances, because you hit the driver much further here.
Again, great video!!!!!
Awesome advice. Especially cool because it is a course I’m familiar with.
That layup par was 🔥
Most of us are taking bogey or worse there… that 68yd pitch is not easy
His handicaps probably a 3 or 4
All I had to see was your iron shots and the divots you take to know you know what you are doing. Your low point was always a few inches past the ball. Even when you missed and acknowledged it was a bad shot, it was still decent. As well your lag putting is spot on. If you mind me asking, what clubs and woods do you use?
MSH another great video and some of the best content on YT! I have 2 questions if you have time to answer, what are the typical tee boxes do you play? What’s the preferred total yards for you. How long have you been putting left hand low and did it make a difference? Thank you from cold and snowy Buffalo!
I saw your first video a few years ago (winter, dark, 36F, 31 likes) and for some reason it stayed with me, but then you disappeared from my YT algorithm. Anyway, you suddenly reappeared last night and i checked out the original post again. I still like it! I also heard you talking on the New Year unedited post about all the haters and trolls. There are some sad and stupid people out there, but that comes with success – you are now getting hundreds of likes, so more power to you and keep going my friend. I've now subscribed, so i won't lose you again! Have a good 2025.
Well maintained course
This was perfect! My goal this year is to finally break 100 after starting my golf journey 5 months ago
Good advice on managingthe course. Thank you.
Just discovered this channel.
Great video, simple and concise.
Thanks sir!
This guy says he's not a long hitter then hits his tee shot over 240 yards !
MSH new subscriber great content recently shot a 89 that should’ve been an easy 82 or less got too caught up in the side money and the lag puts.Thanks.🏌🏻🏌🏻
So the first hole you hit a 240 yd drive. I don't consider this a short hitter.
Very nice common sense tips. keep it up.
Excellent putting, I sure wish I was golfing. -27c this morning brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Great video. Subscribed!
You are not a short hitter compared to me and my friends. Your also much strainer.
I am a 54 year old disability pensioner who broke his neck twice and back once. C and L spine fused.. I'm a short hitter but can break 70 off the blues. On a public course its just about keeping the ball in play and having a great short game.. Most of us cant swing like pro's but we can chip, putt and pitch like one.. I have missed every green and shot par before so it proves the importance of short game over long is king. Whatever length you have work on straightening it up and keeping it in play. Get up and down at least 50% and you will break 85 easy as.
This all applies to breaking 80 as well
More excellent course management advice. I know my achilles heel is lag putting. With the advice I have received from your videos, breaking 80 is a realistic goal for 2025. Thanks again Wes
Great video
Lag putt king
