Steve Williams grew up in the small coastal Wellington suburb of Pukerua Bay, on the fringe of the Kapiti Coast and down the highway from Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club. He followed his Dad to golf and was fascinated but when he discovered at an early age that he could carry bag for money he was hooked. Arguably the most successful caddy of the modern era, pulling clubs in over 150 wins including 14 majors, Steve did more than just carry a bag, he played an integral role in the successes of some of the worlds great golfers. This is the tale of a young Paraparaumu Beach member that dreamed big, worked hard, and ultimately reached the top in his chosen craft.
