how do the apex cf16 compare to these irons?
That seems ridiculous! Why would you choose a TaylorMade iron over a Callaway iron when you'd be saving £300 (for what?). That's daft!!! Does it come in Senior flex???
The biggest thing that happened to the Apex 19 price was the Apex 21 release. Even the '24 models aren't pushing down the 21s like the 21s crashed the 19s.
I got fit for the cf17 apex ….and i sold them 2 months after i bought them …they were great irons but one 7 iron would go 160 and the next may go 175 …hit generally in the same spot …as someone who played adams cb2 black forged prior to the cf17 apex ….i was more use to losing yardage on bad strike usually around 8 to 10 yards which i was ok with …for most courses i play short is ok …long is either o.b. or out of play ….got gifted a new firted set of mizuno mp5s and played them for 5 years …then switched to a very good set of ping s55s and if i could buy new s55s i would every time i needed new irons …gamed the s55s this last season …even owning a new set of fitted ping i230s …..have had the i230s in the bag for last 10 rounds and i am starting to like them more and more …had them set up with same lofts lie as my s55s ….pretty close to traditional…i am a degree strong and 2 degrees upright…stiff shaft standard length….and i like you always buy second hand ….if you know your fit ….and know which irons can be moved easily ….you can buy some really good "kit" as you say when people buy new and dump them when newer models come out or find out they bought or got "sold" something that they really can not use or hit ….but for most part i have always been a ping fan …irons hold up for years even with frequent play ….and you can have them adjusted quite easily even most of their cast stuff ….you will give up a little on the feel side but i personally think the level of forgiveness helps to maybe look past that …..but then again if you have played the s55 you know for a players option it was very very good and forgiving ….
Had the CF16 bought used, got fitted for the Apex 21 around 18 months ago and got 4-PW for £750 and love them, first fitted set since playing golf as a kid and dropped my handicap from 12 to 6 in 2 months of having them
Nobody has money anymore .
Had a set of these gave them to my son – really great feeling clubs as well as forgiving
Another great video Simon. Can you do a myth bust (or not) on the zero torque putters next. I'm getting tempted but hope it's hype 😅.
Have had the cup face on Apex 19 cave in on PW.
Went with D9 forged in this same category – absolutely love them
Always liked the look of Apex Pro's and that's a bargain if I ever saw one. But I will stick to my Gen3's and get them re-shafted instead. Best feeling irons I've ever had.
You do make an interesting point 👍
You're right, I would be very happy with a 7 iron that carries 195+ and that ball flight 😂
Happy New Year Simon, great start…wise words as always..ps, you’ve not aged a day 😊
Great iron
I had Callaway 2007 X Forged irons and the biggest mistake i made in golf was getting the 2016 Apex Pros. I went from having consistent 10 yard gaps through the bag 5 iron down, to a rocket ship 5 iron, a 7 iron that went the same distance as my old 7 iron to a 9 iron that went as far as the 7 iron. Loft jacking has not done the average golfer any favours.
