Seeing you golf in the winter makes me so thankful I golf in California. I’m still wearing shorts to golf in. Tho I love the puma vest ain’t going to lie. So much so bought my dad one for Christmas.
I'm a tinkerer. Love buying older clubs, playing about with lead tape, new shafts etc. Bought an X2 Hot 3 Deep a few weeks back. Straight in the bag! Never liked 3 wood but the increased depth makes it a reliable 2nd option off the tee.
I’ve found that from the tees I normally play with the folks I normally play with, I don’t need a fairway wood at all. I use a driver and a 3 hybrid. If I’m further than 220, more than likely I’m not hitting the green anyway. So why do I need a fairway wood where I’m just going to get in trouble more often than not? You need to learn how to manage the distances, combined with your skill level. If you don’t have good confidence in a club, don’t use it. I also don’t have confidence in a lob wedge, so I don’t use one of those either. I carry a driver, hybrid, 4-P, 54 wedge, and a putter. That’s it.
I still have one of the original Callaway Bertha 1.5… It is a brilliant golf club and is VERY straight. I have the 12' which hits low bombs into the wind. I think it came out a year later. I prefer it to the TM Mini 300 which I found too heavy. Some really good older clubs out there
Good stuff James. I think you should have challenges in your videos where you ask the viewers to give it a thumbs up if you can accomplish something. Maybe something like “Give this a like if I hit the fairway 3 times in a row.” I want to see your channel grow in 2025.
Have had the X hot 7,9, and 11 (yes eleven) woods in my bag for years – will use them til they break – BEST woods EVER !!! Use the 7 wood the most, but when I need the others, they seldom disappoint!! Have allowed me at 76 to still compete with the young bucks, lol.
Years ago I had the Cobra F Speed 3w also had a deep face. But over time everyone went to shallow face 3 woods. I enjoyed it, it gave more confidence compared to shallow face that feels like you can go under the ball and pop it up off a tee.
Had one of these in the bag for 12 years up til last year. Was an absolute bomber off the tee, tough to hit off the fairway though. Ive got a Titleist tsr2+ 13⁰ now and its a beast as well.
I have the x2 hot 3deep pro 13.5°and I hit the absolute piss out of it. has a Diamana S+ 70 x flex shaft. NEVER leaving my bag it's amazing. Got for 35 dollars
Who cares if they don’t think I’m good enough. If I tag my Titleist 15 degree TsR 3 metal I can out dive my driver. And I have a Tsi driver and I’m no slouch by a long shot.
Hny James!! Just based on video this shaft loads beautifully for you. At top of back swing shaft nicely loaded. I think that’s the difference when you say that feels incredible. Cheers mate!!!
That’s my 3 wood! I bought it used with a Matrix Black Tie shaft in it. I use it on tighter driver holes. Need a really good lie to hit off of the fairway.
They also had Callaway XR Pro 3 Deep 3 Wood 14 Deg. Cobra offered the Long Tom 12° 2 Fairway Wood . That would be an interesting head to head comparison!
James the Ping version in the G400 and 410 range was the Stretch 3. I use the 410 as my winter fairways finder with the loft down to 12.5 and the standard Ping Tour stiff shaft. Got mine for £90
Had the shot 3 wood for a while , was class , moved into the 2015 big Bertha after that , now using a paradym triple diamond … but the x hot still stacks up
I use the Callaway XR 3 wood. I bought it used 6 years ago and it's amazing. It's got a shallower face, but is insanely good off the tee and the ground. I still play the X2 hot pro irons as well. They are ancient and I need an upgrade but they've been good to me.
Played ping tisi tec's for 10 years nothing got them out of the bag until these callaway deeps came along, the deeps have been in the bag 10 years now & nothing new compares for keeping fairway wood spin down, only 15 yds shorter than driver off the tee and 80% straight, with all on fairway.
The AI Smoke Triple Diamond fairway woods have a somewhat deeper face. And they're very forgiving for the more compact size, as well. I like the shallow face on my Paradym 4-wood, because I'm trying to sweep the ball, and the design of the shallower head, (flattened and kinda "spread-out") inherently raises MOI and is easier to hit. But I like my old deep face XR 7-wood, because I hit down on it more, and I feel like I can really trap a draw with it – and I don't worry about skying one, especially from the rough. The Stealth fairway woods also strike a nice balance: not too shallow, not too deep.
I have the X hot standard 3wood and 4wood in my bag. By the way the X hot2 was not nearly as good. My youngest son who is the family bomber has the X hot 3 deep in his bag. I am too old to move the 3deep pro. But the standard 3wood does just fine for my 78. Year old swing speed. I fully agree James the X hot should still be available.
My best year of golf was when I used this club as my primary tee club. It was plenty long and had great spin and flight. One of the greatest clubs I have ever played.
I had a 10 degree X Hot driver and it was amazing, I kept it for 7 years before changing it. I also had a 3# steelhead that broke. I missed it so much I recently brought another through golf clubs for cash and am bombing 3 woods again off the tee and off the deck.
This video sparked my interest so much I went on eBay and found a XHOT pro 14.5 deg 3 deep for $159.99 with a Project X 6.0 shaft in great condition. Can’t wait to compare it off the tee with my TSR3 15 deg 3 wood. The Callaway will be 1/2 inch longer and 1/2 degree stronger so will expect at least about 5-10 yards longer in carry. Like the deep face concept, I’ll use it off the tee on long tight par 4’s

What bag is that james?

Getting desperate for Content ????????☹️
But James doesn't Callaway have adjustable 3 woods people could just adjust their 3 wood to a lower loft if they wanted?
I just got a TaylorMade Sim Rocket 3W on marketplace. Thing is a beast
I needed that gap for the longer Par 5’s I play.

Well done James 👏 😊
I bought the x hot driver recently for £40, in great condition. It feels solid, sounds good and goes a ‘mile’.

I still own a Xhot 5 wood. It’s a great club. Very reliable. Longest driver I owned was an X2hot 🥺
I still have and use my Callaway X Hot fairway woods. 😊😊🏌🏌

A good club without 33 adjustments? My word

More great stuff from JR Daily.
Would love to see a comparison test of 3 woods from the last several years from GolfClubs4Cash.
JRob I have this exact club, the strong 3 wood with 13 degrees of loft. It goes a mile, but for me it's difficult to hit.
They also had Callaway XR Pro 3 Deep 3 Wood 14 Deg. Cobra offered the Long Tom 12° 2 Fairway Wood . That would be an interesting head to head comparison!

Great video, What’s the bag you use, it’s a thing of beauty 😍

This seems like it'd be great in your bag James. How come you don't throw clubs like this I'm your bag? What are you using instead of this?

Hi James. Trying to find the shaft weight to no avail. Any ideas please.
Gain 20 yards….skinny jeans
I have the X hot standard 3wood and 4wood in my bag. By the way the X hot2 was not nearly as good. My youngest son who is the family bomber has the X hot 3 deep in his bag. I had the xhot pro deep, longer than my driver!
Just think how great it would be if the shaft was poured.

I don't know about the 3deep but Scheels has the Xhot drivers and woods brand new. Not sure if they are as good as the original though.

I've got an Adams 13 degree strong 3 wood in the bag. I've had it for years and won't take it out it's my fairway finder
