The Rules of Golf can be complex if you are new to the game. My Call the Referee series of video’s is a practical guide to some of the common and at times uncommon situation we find whilst playing.

During the winter months we may encounter some rules more than we would do during summer condition’s. In today’s video we explain the leaf rule, how this would apply. Best call the referee!!!!

PGA Rules Official David Rishworth is on hand to give us a practical view on the rules.

When you ball gets in such situations as the one I find myself in what are my options?

  1. I was up today and you never said there was a ball lost in there Darb. I'd have been in that lot like a rat up a drainpipe 😉
Congratulations on getting six more new members today Darbs…great work 👍👍👍

  2. Being a comps player the rule we use all leafs are loose impediment so they can be moved.
But cannot move the ball in anyway this is a penalty stroke.
So you can just dig up leaves until you spot a ball. Some of club members would bring out battery powered leaf blowers so these scenarios.
Lost count of many great tee shots I hit on to loose the ball under leafs ( in the middle of the freaking fairy too!). Time to bring back Fore caddies!

  3. Just a rub of the green I'm afraid, lots of luck involved in golf, accept the good with the bad and get on with it.
