The thing is, johny mc was right on most of them. Organizers deliberately used him as a scapegoat to create controversy and drama on court to get eyes on the sport. Pathetic.
Shameful tennis bureaucrats always ruining the sport for the faithful fans.
The guy admitted he was on roids.
If he just kept his mouth shut, and stopped moaning, he would have been remembered for the great player he was, instead he built himself this aura of tennis bad boy that served him well after he retired, becoming the personality he is today and what people most associate Mc Enroe with are his tantrums on courts around the world…
Having said that, just think at today's players, in particular the big 3, the one that sticks out the most, Roger Federer, class, elegance, fair play, his record on court is immaculate, he kept his mouth shut and won 3 times as much as Mc Enroe, Jannik Sinner today, absolute dominance, absolute silence on court, those are the players I admire and those are the records I would like to be associated with as a tennis player.
To show Mcnamee being proud of denying Ken Farrar recognition on centre court just sums up what little class Australian tennis has. Really shameful.
Mcenroe was a disgusting man child bully, he thinks it was all quite funny, I think his legacy was destroyed by it.
Pretty poor and petty from Paul McNamee being so smug about denying Ken Farrar recognition on Centre Court. It was 100% the right decision to default McEnroe – he brought that onto himself with his behaviour
It's a shame he isn't primarily remembered for his wonderful game.
His behaviour was absolutely horrendous, and there are so many great matches of his that are borderline unwatchable because he wouldn't keep his mouth shut.
But ultimately, that's how he chose to be on a tennis court. He has only himself to blame 🤷🏼♀️
It is quite a stretch that Mac had a chance for winning AUS 90, in the SF vs Lendl he would have had no chance.

Mikael Pernfors was my favorite player since his amazing French Open few years ago. He could have been a serious top ten player. Amazing skills, did what others couldn’t do… you must see (if it’s possible because the video is horrible) his incredible point against Jim Courier. Nothing you’ll ever see again.

Johnny Mac was brilliant and an entitled asshole at the same time . Also , he had a magnetic personality which made for unbelievable exciting matches. I saw him in Portland Oregon playing Davis Cup where he destoyed Pat Cash. I loved watching him play ! He also elevated Doubles play by encouraging other peers to participate and was a strong proponent for Davis Cup . On top of that he and Mary Carillo were / are the best commentators tennis has had the privilege of watching and listening to.
