Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This YouTube channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!

I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.

I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!

On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

  1. Are u ok Rick?? … NOBODY gives points for distance with difference in loft…. GET CLUBS TO MATCH the loft … amazing fail from someone supposed to "professional" in this stuff…. loooooooved ur test stuff "back in the days"… now this is just crap for people with no golf brain at all…. total shame!

  2. So just to put this all in context… the #1 iron played on Tour (the best low handicappers) is last place for Rick…

  3. Distance is not a great category for low handicap golfers. Consistency would be my number 1 category. Which irons provide consistent distance is a key feature for my next irons.

  4. Would rather you added Spin rate and removed looks. Then, distance should be adjusted by loft and stronger lofts loose a %. Finally, rank accuracy based on a grid width.

Then you can rank them while listed price and make comments about price and quality.

  5. I have to say I disagree on looks (but then if you ask 6 people you'll likely get 6 different answers). I can't see how accuracy is a valid test as it depends on your performance. I also wouldn't buy irons with regard to the length of their carry, I'd be rather looking at gap fitting. However, I do love watching your videos as they are both entertaining and instructive so keep up the good work.

  6. Giving points for distance of irons when the lofts are all different makes no sense. Basically, whichever iron has strongest loft wins. 😂😂 playing irons like this, it’s not about carry, it’s about consistency.

  7. 1000% stay away from tokomo absolute worse experience I’ve ever had in my life from the moment I clicked purchase. Possibly worst customer service of anything I’ve ever purchased ever. Basically ignored and told to pound sand.

  8. I am on 2 seasons and my second set of wilson staff model cb's and I love the feel. That's the only reason I bought them after coming off a Mizuno set I couldn't relinquish for 20 years. Mizuno should be included in this test. Otherwise, it just isn't fair. Afterall, Mizuno is the leader in forged club feel. But Wilson is cheaper and just as good. Gonna purchase a set of Takomo's as well this spring and see where they take me. Thanks Rick. Keep up the good work.

  9. Really not to be a hater here, but the fact there was no Srixon ZX7, Mizuno 243, Callaway Apex CB, or Cobra King Tour just makes this an absolute joke. This video is missing some of the best performance in this category. Rick makes good content, but when it comes to reviewing clubs it’s just not it. I know it was said but looks sound and feel are all subjective. WE WANT TO SEE DATA. Which spins the most/least, which launches the lowest/highest, which creates the most ball speed with the same loft, and most importantly which is the most a consistent in doing those things. GO GET FIT, leave biases to the side, go with performance and what checks your boxes of feel of the best performers.

  10. Love the idea buT if it’s subjective then you have to be more proportional.

Clubs losing 1 pt based on negligible 1 yard less carry 4:04 – yet ping getting 2pt for £50 a club more expensive than Wilson onwards which is £350 over 4-PW is just unrealistic 6:49

  11. This was horrible lol. Feel gross giving this video a view. No zx7 or Mizuno 243? Incredibly lazy review

  12. Love the idea buT if it’s subjective then you have to be more proportional.

  13. Love Rick, but this test has so many flaws. How can you rate Vice as number 1 in the distance while showing that the loft is different? You would have to bend them all to be similar to make a fair assessment.

  14. Like you output but sorry Rick you should be better than this. Said it before and will say it again this is pointless and far too subjective. Looks and feel are nonsense and simply an opinion. You said looks were impossible – so why do it? Distance means nothing unless you discount for lofts.
    Try again and this time:
Remove looks and feel for points purposes. Offer an opinion but no points on these categories. Adjust for loft on distance : vice had 2 to 3 degrees more loft and got top place.
You should be better than this.
If as you say it is subjective why award points, just give an opinion and leave it at that.

  15. Saw these Vice irons today for the first time in person. In the bag next to you them looked great, down by the ball big no no. They looked way to large and ”cheap” for my eye.

  16. I’m currently an 11 GHIN. When I first got my T-100S set in 2020 in was around a 20 GHIN. I actually improved my swing/scores after moving away from “game improvement” irons to the ones rec’ed for much better golfers than I was. The guy who fitted me was actually quite apprehensive, but I knew what I wanted & was confident I could hit them. Which, obviously, I can now. I honestly think the mental side plays a big role too in the club-fitting. If you are confident you can hit a “low handicapper” iron & the feel/look good to you at address, man, go for it.

I absolutely LOVE my T100S set. If price was more of an issue & I were to replace them, I’d prob go w/either the Wilson or Takomo set. The Vice looks ugly to me. Burning reality, when I get my next set in 2-3 years, I’ll prob go the T-150 if they are still selling those.

  17. POINTLESS REVIEW….how many on here…..certainly at my own club would not be even looking at Vice, Takomo and even Wilson….no callaway, Mizuno and Srixon and Cobra…..there will be a minority who would use the 3 lower brands….this isn’t to say they are no good….in the real world the big boys rule….unfortunately the majority of golfers would only entertain and look at the major golf brands…

  18. Great review. Anytime a youtuber reviews a Takomo product its important to take it with a grain of salt.

Takomo has used Youtube sponsorship instead of traditional advertising routes to promote there brand. Totally fine but when you realised Takomo has paid out over 1 million us dollars to youtube golfers since 2020 so theres a reason why everyone with a chanel strokes Takomo off like this

  19. No Mizuno 243, or Srixon, also hate the ping, always dislike the chunk missing from the hosel.

  20. So you left out 3 of the best iron makers in mizuno, srixon and callaway and put in more obscure makes like vice and takomo, very poor reviewer
