How accurate is the data on the budget Square Golf launch monitor, compared to the much more respected (and expensive) Trackman iO launch monitor? PGA Professional Harry and I, put the budget device through its paces, comparing both ball and club data, to see how accurate it really is.

Luv your content! This was an interesting watch. Been thinking of buying this LM. Slightly concerned with the results. I'm wondering though; given the discrepancies you highlight, how much is due to what each monitor 'measures' vrs 'calculates'? For me i want something that is accurate on path, face angle, speed (ball&club), launch angle and spin. I've not been able to find accurate info yet on what Square measures versus calculates on each of these data points. If its measured & inaccurate that's one thing but if it's calculated then the algorithm can be improved. Again, great content mate. Appreciate your contribution to the community.
Thinking of sending mine back after this, haven’t even opened it yet. May just bite the bullet and get an old GC2, I’ll never doubt the accuracy of that as it’s tried and tested! Cheers Mitch
It is the white shoes I believe
i think it's a bad idea to put a mirror in the line of view of a camera based LM. maybe this is why some shots don't registered ?
It’s not even close to being accurate. People need to stop saying square is the new thing. It’s not. It’s ok for price but not even close to the premium launch monitors
Did reasonably well on ball data when Joe lagowski compared to gc3. From the aggregate data out there, it’s definitely not as accurate as the high end LMs but this was particularly off in terms of discrepancies.
You need to use RCT ball for the correct spin number on trackman. The spin number comparison isn’t valid.
There is obviously some thing off with this test because even in your own videos the Square never missed a shot and did not seem to do any thing out of the norm . Same with other YT creators when the unit is used by it self . For the record . I used to go to a trackman center alot before getting my own LM . It missed and had miss reads at least 4 to 5 times in a round between two of us . I think a iron byron hitting 5 balls with each LM with the exact same parameters set for all shots would be the only way to test with a net or screen .
Honest question. How are you expected to measure spin numbers as a baseline on the trackman if you aren’t using RCT balls?
Not saying other discrepancies aren’t valuable info, but using the square balls and not being able to use RCT balls taints the data for spin measurement comparison…
Just been testing mine. Numbers seem off more often then I'd like, sometimes it seems fine but often club data and spin and flight don't match up – club path is out to in with an open face, yet the ball is spinning left which shouldn't be possible.
And sometimes the path and angle of attack data seems to be far too high, values in the teens for path when hitting a short punch shot almost straight at the net.
Coming from an R10 I'm a little disappointed to be honest, the numbers just seem to be all over the place.
Putting feels good and being able to use it in a smaller space is good, but I'm starting to have concerns about it's accuracy. This is with the supplied 3 piece sqaure balls to, on both the native software and Gspro.
I keep reading excuses like white shoes, interference, needs to be elevated higher then the ball, but so often maybe it's just the square isn't that good?
I played on a Trackman iO after sitting in a car for 3.5 hours no warm up no stretching and hit a driver that carried 305. Never in my dreams could i hit one like that. Pretty much him every shot 1.5 clubs longer than real life.
those wedge spin number on trackman are inaccurate , indoor mats no way you can spin a wedge at 11k.
