Surely if you hit a ball in the trees, hit another without declaring a provisional, it becomes the ball in play?
Lucid explanation with the rule numbers quoted for those that need to look up the rule afterwards.
Just drop one down and get on with it
Thats why takes 5 hrs to play
Your giggle laced with your wisdom is going to be the death of me. We are so out of bounds all the time we play the wrong way on the fairway. Dr Gus Greenfield approved!
All clubs should use 2 shot penalty rule for general play
rules everyone needs to know – i love the idea of the drop on the fairway should just be employed for all amateur events
my dad never hits a provisional and dont know why you just never know if you'll find it in a bad area and also gives you bit of practice ha
I have to say that those were a couple of the worst shots I've seen you hit on video 😆 I have to believe that you were doing that on purpose, so in that case, well done! 😄👍🏽❤⛳️
I really wish the possibility of a local rule (dropping with 2 shots penalty) becomes an official rule. We always play it among our group in casual rounds like that, although it's no local rule (I suggested it to the club but they won't listen).
We've got a dogleg there with danger of OOB which you hardly can see from the tee … and usually it's the same again with a provisional …
so we just agreed upon that between us.
4:16 golfing fact.
Provisional balls always go straight.

In stableford competitions if loose ball most golfers just take a wipe on hole and move on.
Interesting question: you hit your ball into a (thick) bush, when you get there you can see a ball in there and assume it's your ball, but cannot reach it to identify (without hurting yourself) – are you entitled to take an unplayable drop (2 club length) … or is your ball lost and you have to go back to the tee?
Thank you Hannah, it would think, that at least 80 % of my golf buddies, me included, had no clue about all the opportunities when a ball is gone lost or OB
Yep! Good no nonsense advice. Well done, Hannah.
buy cheap golf balls
You pretty much nailed it this time. Well done. 🙂
Only one slight mistake: Model local rules are not under rule 8 of the rulebook which is "Course Played as It Is Found". MLR are Section 8 under "Committee Procedures". Committee Proceedures are not included in the rule book, but is a seperate section of the Official Guide to the Rules of Golf. Nitpicking here, but minor misunderstandings can, in my experience, lead to very big mistakes on the course. 🙂
I have to commend you on your explanation of E-5 though. Not many people has this level of understanding of this local rule. Let alone ability to explain it.
New rule you only get one ball and when it’s gone you have to go home! Sounds harsh but a rule is a rule
Great explanations of what to do on a lost ball. When you were by the wired fence from the T shot out of bounds there were a lot of leaves piled up along the fence. What if you did not find the ball but said it was lost in the leaves. Any relief stating it may have been lost in the leaves in bounds other than what you explained?
What do you do? You take out the extra ball you've been carrying and drop it somewhere not seen by your playing partners, yet is playable otherwise.
Well, that's what most people do.
Great job Hannah. I sent the previous rules video out to our lady members and was hoping to do the same with this. However, the inclusion of the Model Local Rule 8 E-5 towards the end will, unfortunately only serve to confuse most members/viewers as this cannot be applied during any competition round that is deemed as Acceptable for handicap purposes.
Well explained Hannah! Thanks
loving your content Hannah, well done.
Great work again Hannah, very well explained. Thank you.
Stylish as ever Hannah.
I have not heard of any clubs in Britain using the model local rule E5.
Well that was really interesting and informative. Clubs should offer this sort of advice in voluntary seminars to members.
I quite like the idea of that Model Local Rule E-5; could be very practical for some courses / holes.
Cheers
I get the feeling that you’re tapping into an area of YouTube golf, that hasn’t seen much activity?!
