Your misses are trying to teach you something about your golf swing and if you can analyze your misses properly, you can turn them into solid and accurate golf shots!!! š#golflesson #golfswing #golfinstruction
Iāve never heard of the progression of misses. But it makes complete sense. Maybe there is still hope for me after 55 years of trying. Iām closer than I thought. Thanks for your insight Jim.
Merry Christmas Jim. Yes !! Golf is a game of managing misses..I played 9 holes the other day and pulled both my short wedge approach shots on the 1st 2 holes..So, the rest of the holes where I had a short wedge in…I just aimed left, (I'm lefty)and got on the green. In my head, I wasn't thinking why I'm pulling it, and trying to fix it while on the course…I was thinking "ok, this is what's happening right now so, just aim left, and I'll work on this later at the range"
At the range Monday, 2nd go at your swing style, I was able to relax. 1st attempt I was still turning my back to target & over swinging. This time my mind was able to allow my body to trust stillness more, although I still had some lead leg flex & a desire to hit hard. The results were better than any method I've ever used before. Yesterday I grabbed a club and swing easy at home, no ball, and I believe it clicked. Can't wait to hit the range again. It's becoming ingrained, feeling natural & effortless.
Thanks Jim. Historically, my miss is the snap hook. As I got older, it stopped snapping. Iām assuming thatās due to an old manās slower swing speed. Your closed stance method has me seeming to hit it pretty solid, at least inside the garage. Canāt wait to get outside to see the ball flight.
Think I went pull hook then the push, and then more recently, the draw/fade started to show up a bit more regularly. Either way it's a lot more fun than playing with the cutty slice that goes nowhere good and gets annihilated by the wind. I bought 718 AP2's about 5 yrs ago (when I had no clue how to use them properly), and after much hair pulling, ground whacking and cursing at the gods, I am finally, with their advanced playability, and a good deal of your insightful advice, learning how to control my ball, and stalking a low single figure handicap. I'm coming up 62. Never say never. Thanks Jim.

Now if I can get away from pull hooks.

I got all of them down baby, except the "really beautiful" ones. So your saying there's a chance?
Jim, I have spent quite some time watching your pitch here. I like it a lot! Merry Christmas!š„
Iām stuck in the snap hook phase

That has been my progression, exactly. Iām in northern Michigan and the last 3 weeks of October I began hitting tight draws. Then winter came. š© Thanks for all your help!
