ORLANDO – Still the youngest player in the field at the PNC Championship at age 13, Will McGee continues to be a fan favorite. His enthusiasm for the event is downright contagious, and he soaked up the chance to hit chip shots next to Tiger Woods before the final round got underway on Sunday, casually asking him questions.
McGee and his LPGA and World Golf Hall of Fame mother, Annika Sorenstam, once again finished 11th at the event after carding a final-round 63. They began the final round only three shots back of the leaders at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club. Bernhard Langer and his son Jason beat Tiger Woods and his son Charlie in a playoff for their second consecutive title.
“It is so special to be here,” said Annika. “We have tears coming down in the end just because golf has given us, given me so much, and now it continues to give. Just to be here with him and Mike and Ava and the family, my dad out there. It just means so much more.”
“It was just such a fun time,” added Will, tearing up again, “and we only get to do it once a year.”
