Good advice. Because sure, if you strike it well and get on or near the green, you’re definitely more likely to score well. But what are the odds you’ll strike your 3W well from a downhill lie off the deck (as opposed to chunking it and wasting a stroke)? For most amateurs, pretty low.
Tiger Woods would use a 3 iron and stick it on the green 3 feet away.
