I Wish Someone Had Told Me This About MY GRIP! (SHOT IN THE 70’s SINCE!)
The grip’s contribution to ball flight can generally be estimated to account for 20–40% of the overall effect so lets make sure we know what it does to our ball flight…Understanding when to make our grip stronger and weaker depending on where the trouble is on the golf course of the tee will help you shoot in the 70’s and knock countless shots off your scores
Today Alex Elliott golf shows you the exact grip method to lower your scores and use your grip to miss the trouble of the tee with driver! Also this grip change will stop your slice!

I’ve found the perfect grip solution for me to square up my club. I grab a wedge, grip it normally. To check for square I straighten each wrist.
(I’m a lefty) if my club is square when my lead wrist is Staight I’m in my full shot setup. If I straighten my trail wrist I’m in my wedge position. If my setup is off my club won’t be aligned to the target. It made a huge difference in my game
I like this. No one talks about this on YouTube. I tend to hook my 3 wood off tee and I've done this to straighten out my 3 wood. Driver I just keep grip normal.
I hope that this helps! It’s common sense golf
Rey very good tip
Thank you so much
It was only a matter of time before a suspiciously phallic sketch on the whiteboard
Great explanation. I would love to see the. Camera view looking down on the ball during the swing to see what a better player is looking at a d how much movement you have compared to a hack like me.
There's another YouTube guy that says one of the keys to breaking 80 is to play whatever natural ball flight you have and not try to shape it .
fab really helpful explanation
I exclusively watch your channel now. You've improved my golf game better in the last 6 months than anyone I've watched over the years.
Many fairways we have are bowling alleys
… trouble right, trouble left
So, I club down 😏
I do the opposite. Cant have faith aiming at the trouble and curving it away from trouble because quite often it just goes straight and Im exactly where I dont want to be.
Instead I aim the other side of fairway and try for a slight curve back towards the trouble figuring if I do over curve it I have the whole fairway as leeway and if I hit it straight its also ok
Thanks Alex. Another great lesson.
use a black pen
Excellent video, very descriptive explained in common sense terminology. I will carry this onto the course on 3X5 card. This will help me tremendously. What do you do if you have trouble right and left? What do you recommend?
You’re assuming that everyone can hit a straight ball to start with!! People seeking help from videos like yours do not!! Targeted for single handicappers !!!
Excellent video
I already did this, not changing the grip, but having he face a little opened or closed with the same grip. Feels the same in the end. What was nt explained here is: why you tee lower than normal ?
A little left English on a cue ball eh? I understand.
What the complete hacker (like myself ) who actually sort of does this ,only its always on right side of tee box with strong grip to allow for slice..but will occasionally get the dreaded straight ball to the left rough or ob left ..? 😂 just being a wise ass ,this is actually how I try to get through my horrible rounds (that have been become quite common lthis last season)..
Please don't draw in the full sunlight on a bright white board with a barely visible ink. Use shade, use maximum contrast.
So is this only for those that hit the ball straight.?? Surely this could cause a lot of problems for erratic swinging high handicappers who have a double miss..??
You say do this to shoot in the seventies, but you've got to be shooting low eighties first.
Wouldn't want to mislead folks into this is a miracle way of shooting to single figure handicap scores.
You’re videos have helped me so much I have just had one of my best games I play off 14.5 I have just had a round of 86 thanks mate I can’t wait for next year
