GLOVERSVILLE – Long before its doors closed, Kingsboro Golf Club, which opened in 1930, was a busy course featuring 3,050 yards of golf from of the longest tees for a par of 37.

The course, owned by Mohammed Khan, has been closed for over a year and is listed for $250,000. Khan, who lives downstate, is no longer interested in operating it, according to real estate agent and former Gloversville Mayor Dayton King of Keller Williams Platform.

Kingsboro Golf Course was under ownership of Micropolis Development Group in May 2021, but faced litigation over payments from Global Properties NY and the former Double Eagle Restaurant.

Under contractual terms, the company was required to pay off the balance of the purchase price within 12 months, yet failed to pay the owed amount — at least $430,000 total — and monthly payments despite multiple extensions offered by Global Properties in 2022 in an attempt to keep the deal secure, as reported by the Leader Herald.

The course has potential for various uses, including commercial ventures, and comes with equipment like golf carts, mowers, kitchen and dining equipment.

King said he imagines Kingsboro Golf Club will come to life again with golfers teeing up.

“If you can run a successful restaurant and you know the bar business, get the men’s league, and the women’s league, a couple’s league going again, it could be a success,” King said. “But, I think it’s going to take somebody that’s going to be really dedicated to make a go of it and make it a full-time operation.”

King is marketing the property in New York City, Boston, and the Capital Region, seeking an owner-operator.
