The time has finally come for some new rules in the PDGA at least proposed rule changes. Doug Bjerkaas being at the forefront. Along with that, Pro Tour players have already peaced out from tour life. I will breakdown all that and more today.

Reddit Post:
The PDGA has started conversations about a possible change in their putting rules. The proposed change is to define a “putt” to be within 20 meters of the basket, as opposed to 10 meters. A simple proposal: No jump or step putts inside 20 meters. Thoughts?

Its so hard to stand still putt from 66' or 20 meters. I think this will take a lot of the fun out of the game as putting will now be too hard. I could see the pro tour going to this but all sanctioned events is so dumb to me. Why do they just assume doubling it. What the stats there. Basketball didn't extend the 3point line by a factor of 2. Just seems like a lame excuse to not fix the rule that is in place. like say one foot must stay on the ground at all times or something along those lines.
Good!! Athletes can putt just fine from circle 2 without jumping or stepping. We need this to separate the pros from the Joe's.
I don't think a 20m circle is gonna work at all competitive levels. I think the best options are
1) 15 meters for all PDGA-events
2) 20m for pro MPO, 15m for pro FPO & ama MPO, 10m for ama FPO and age restricted divisions
I can’t imagine the female pros or amateurs being able to get it there from 20 m
Why don’t they fix their crappy scoring app instead of deciding to reinvent the wheel on C2 putts?
Dumb suggestion from Bjerkaas..
That simply moves illegal putts out to 20+, instead of 10+.
This doesn't solve the problem – and very obviously so.
Also, a 20m circle has a circumference of 125-metres compared to 63-metres. Who's gonna mark out a circle that large? It's bad enough marking out 10m circles for an event!
2:16 here’s what I have to say about the putting there is a way to standardize baskets and make putting more difficult at the same time which would negate the whole circle change in my opinion and that is make the pro tour play on marksmanship baskets 💯🤷♂️
As a player who stopped jump putting I fully endorse this change.
gannon buff
It's either this or ban jump and step putts outright.
Step putting from 33ft makes me want to stop watching sport. How about no step putting period.
Do you guys see that GK put out an announcement that they're starting their own tour
Lame rule change. Why not feet instead of meters that would be a better change.
Keep the rule the way it is or allow step and jump putts from any distance. It’s a putting technique. People use different run up techniques why not allow different putting techniques.
I love the proposed rule change! I'm nowhere near a pro and have no problem stand stilling a 65-footer
Rule change? Heck, I’m still waiting for the existing rule of time limit to be consistently called and enforced. Maybe I’ve watched too many other professional sports that have time rules (eg NBA 24 second clock) and as a result I have unrealistic expectations that “professional” and “rule violations have actual consequences” should go hand in hand.
People who don’t step putt can learn how to step putt if they want the same distance advantage.
It's only terrible putters that complain about jump putts. Instead of crying get good scrubs.
Complaing about not being able to take time off is hilarious. Try a real job cupcake. Most people in the world are never able to take time off.
Looking forward to see what Schusterick does with Prodigy.
Glad I adopted a strong spin putt when i started playing. I always thought it was funny, those players that are desperate to be just outside of c1 just to jump putt. seems like a crutch but w/e
This whole YouTube channel is just complaining and bitching 😂
When it comes to rules they should always use the KISS method.
Keep it simple stupid.
Rules should be made for all to be able to play the game. Rules should not be made for players that don’t like the rules.
Just my opinion. To each their own.
So this putting rule proposal is for pro's, right? How many ams are really making a lot of 60-foot putts. Let the DGPT make whatever rules they want, but remember that almost all PDGA members are ams.
Jump putts are awsome why make the sport more boring
