If you have a fear of bunker shots, you may want to avoid every golf course in existence. Sand traps are a common obstacle on nearly every golf course in the world. These can be airy mounds of sand or deep greenside bunkers. Understanding how to overcome these obstacles will make the experience less aggravating and more enjoyable overall.
George Gankas golf lessons primarily focus on assisting players in crafting the best possible golf swing based on their individual attributes. Through the GG Swing Method, golfers from around the world have advanced their own abilities, giving full credit and praise to the strategies that have made George Gankas golf videos take the golf community by storm.
Gankas explains that setting up bunker shots can often be inconsistent if players have not received adequate golf instruction beforehand. Building confidence before reaching the sand trap will almost always ensure a better shot than approaching the bunker full of anxiety or anger. Every player will eventually have to work their way out of a sand trap. Understanding how to hit a bunker shot correctly will make the process just another routine part of your overall golfing experience.
The first step to setting up a proper bunker shot concerns choosing the right golf club for the job. If you’re shooting in a greenside bunker, which are characterized by having very little green to utilize, a high loft wedge would be the best club suited for the job. Your golf ball will not roll as much because of the increased loft. If you do have green that you can utilize, consider using a golf club with a lower loft, like the appropriately named sand wedge or a gap wedge. Either club will create an extended upward trajectory out of the bunker.
Nearly all bunker shots should be played off of your lead foot. Playing the shot too far back could seriously reduce the overall trajectory of the entire shot. Remember that setting up a bunker shot does not use the same principles found in a pitch and run shot. Bunker shots always deliver a considerable amount of backspin.
