In Episode 24, Marcus sits down with Andrew Hernandez, current Pitching Coach at Wharton County Junior College in Wharton, Texas. Andrew grew up in both Kingsville and Corpus Christi, ultimately attending Moody High School and playing for the Moody Trojans (Moody Magic) from 2015 to 2018.
He attended college at Texas A&M-International in Laredo, TX before transferring to Wharton County JUCO for 2 years. He ultimately finished his career in Kingsville at Texas A&M-Kingsville, having to retire from baseball after injuries before he could play in the 2023 Spring Season.
This episode is intended to encourage players to explore the JUCO route, and to expand their vision from a Division 1-or-Bust mentality. Wharton County JUCO has updated facilities, and consistently competes in a stacked region with schools like San Jacinto JC, Blinn JC, Galveston College, and Alvin Community College.
