Tom McCarthy: A chopper towards 1st. Big Hop for Ryan Howard. He'll take it to the bag himself. And the Phillies have finished off this ballgame against the Houston Astros and have won their 3rd Consecutive National League East Crown. As they head out to October for one more season.

Drew Goodman: And The 0-2… He's Got It! Time To Celebrate. The Rockies are heading back to the Postseason.

  2. 6:25 What a brutal way to end the game for the Braves. And with that, they are disqualified from postseason contention

  3. Phillies are back in the postseason. Now they are playing to try to get the 1-seed in the NL these final 3 days

Same goes for the Cardinals, who have already won their division, and are also playing for the 1-seed in the NL these final 3 days

Same goes for the Dodgers and Rockies, as they have both clinched at least the NL Wild Card, and are both still trying to win the NL West AND are both also trying to get the 1-seed in the NL

  4. Tigers-Twins split their 4-game-series.

Alot of HBP/close pitches between both teams in the final game on October 01.

Tigers are now up 2 games on the Twins with 3 games left. Looks like they wont collapse after all like they did against the Twins in 2006 (ironically)

But the Tigers do face the WSOX, who are looking to play spoilers against the Tigers. While the Twins have 3 games at home against the lowly Royals

Twins won the season-series against the Tigers, so if there is a game 163, it would be played on Monday October 05 in Minnesota (thats right, no more coin flips to decide homefield in extra regular season games)

  5. Rockies are back in the postseason, as they have clinched at least the NL Wild Card.

What a great turnaround to their season, which all started when they changed manager after a 18-28 start to their season. Rockies went 74-42 for the rest of the season.

Rockies can still clinch the NL West if they 3-game-sweep the Dodgers in the final 3 games of the season. Heck, Rockies can still clinch the 1-seed in the NL

That would be some mini-collapse by the Dodgers to lose the NL West since they were up at one point in the season 13 games over the Rockies.. Their lead is now down to 2 games over the Rockies with 3 games left. But the Dodgers are in the postseason either way, with at least the NL Wild Card if they do get swept

  6. October 1st sees the 2009-10 NHL Season get underway. It's an October 1st start thanks to the NHL taking part in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

  7. After the result on Wednesday, September 30th, the Tigers have a 96.875% chance of winning the division. That means the Twins only have a 3.125% chance. The Tigers had a 6 game lead earlier in the month, saw it dwindled down to 1, but now it's at 3 games with 4 games left. In the Wild Card era thus far, no team that has had a greater than a 96% chance to make the playoffs in the final week of the season failed to qualify (actually I'd have to check on that, the '07 Mets may have). Even if the Tigers lose on Thursday, they will still have a 93.75% chance.

  8. Listening to Raul Ibañez in that postgame interview, I had no idea he was American. I just assumed he was from the Carribean. Turns out his parents are Cuban, and he was born in New York, and grew up in Miami.

  9. With the Rockies win on Wednesday night, the Giants are officially eliminated from playoff contention. It was a good season for them, rheir first winning season in 5 years, and were in Wild Card contention for most of the season. For the first time in awhile, Giants fans have a reason to be optimistic about the future.
