Roki Sasaki and Hyeseong Kim are two notable players from Asian professional baseball leagues who are making the transition to Major League Baseball (MLB) through the posting system. Roki Sasaki, a 23-year-old Japanese right-handed pitcher from the Chiba Lotte Marines of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), is expected to be posted for MLB teams, but due to his age, he will be classified as an international amateur free agent, limiting his initial earnings to a signing bonus within MLB’s international bonus pool constraints. In contrast, Hyeseong Kim, a 25-year-old South Korean second baseman from the Kiwoom Heroes of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO), has already been officially posted, making him available to sign with any MLB team from December 4, 2024 for the next 45 days. Kim, benefiting from his age and professional status, can sign a major league contract without the same financial restrictions as Sasaki, potentially securing a multi-year deal. Both players represent significant acquisitions for MLB teams looking to bolster their rosters with international talent.

In the 2024 MLB offseason, Luis Severino signed a landmark three-year, $67 million deal with the Oakland Athletics, marking the largest contract guarantee in franchise history; the deal includes an opt-out clause after the second year. Shane Bieber, coming off Tommy John surgery, re-signed with the Cleveland Guardians for one year at $10 million with a player option for 2026 at $16 million, indicating a cautious approach to his recovery and potential performance. Meanwhile, Danny Jansen signed a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Rays, aiming to address their need for an upgrade at catcher after ranking among the bottom in OPS at that position in recent seasons.

  1. The A's don't have to worry about sevvy. They're going to get last year all over again because he completely decimated his strikeout stuff after 2023. He went from 3 pitches to 6 pitches and ditched two of them. Also I love Clay Holmes as a starter that'd be electric just like Micheal King. I watched his first two starts as a starter because I'm a Jays fan.

  2. i’m seeing brian cashman maybe? idk hard to tell. maybe i’m just hopin it’s cashman to his left because imma huge yankees fan.

  3. I hate how quiet the DBacks got… I'm half expecting free agent and everyone with options to walk from the team and DBacks do the classic move of letting them.

Closest to winning it all for the first time in 22 years, and the experiment looks like it's falling apart.

  4. This February I get to enjoy a nice spring training game all thanks to your promo code, thank you Fuzzy, I basically got the second ticket for free 🙏🏽🙏🏽

  5. Wow, the A’s spending big on Severino is a shocker! $67M for a franchise known for penny pinching feels like a statement. Curious to see if this is the start of a new spending trend or just a one off move.

  6. The picture😂 Soto reading the menu grabbing his 5 Star dinner, and definitely not paying attention.

  7. Y'all remember when the Yankees won one game in the world series and the fans thought they were goanna come back and win the series hahaha yeah Yankee fans are the worst 😂😂😂😂😂

  8. So even after the explanation you people are still clowning the move. I tell ya people are just dumb. It makes perfect sense especially in Vegas why would Vegas want a franchise that doesn't compete smh a lot of you are just not the smartest people just want to ridicule to ridicule. Hence why you probably hate your life 😂😂😂

  9. players dont get paid for what they DID. they get big contracts for what theyll DO. rookies and prospects really need to stop being hyped up. theres nothing impressive about professional athletes before they become professional athletes major league levels. other nations pro leagues are not comparable. college stats or achievements really arent impressive.

  10. Roki going to the padres kinda makes sense actually. If he went to the dodgers he'd have to deal with sharing the spotlight with Ohtani and Yamamoto as well as all the other stars that team has. Where as if he goes to the padres, he will be the headliner of that team and the undisputed ace of the staff.

  11. The Rays always pickup the most budget catchers possible. It really goes to show you how good the a Rays pitching is with how bad the catching has been over the years.

  12. Lol fuzzy just missed out on willy adames signing with the San Francisco Giants 7 yrs $182 million

  13. i'm a mets fan and i hope we dont sign soto for 700 million. dude is a great player, but no way is more valuable than ohtani's contract. I believe mets are better off using that money to sign multple all=stars instead of putting all their money in one basket. use the money on the bullpen.

  14. Mets stole Holmes from the Yanks, thats pretty funny, more like Saved the Yankees, thank you Mets.
