Lol Herbert took Brandon Staley to the playoffs, that’s an accomplishment itself.
And he has with terrible weapons rn besides Ladd and he’s still playing well, so he actually is showing he can overcome a lack of talent around him.
I think ur overreacting a little?! They were ALL saying that they believe Justin H is a top tier QB in the league, including Nick!!! Certain QBs Nick definitely shows a bias against BUT he thinks highly of Hiebert. If u watch 'The Facility" & most shows 4 BETTER OR WORSE the QB is always going 2 get a disproportionate amt of praise & a disproportionate amt of blame when their team wins or loses?! Caleb's being seen as the worst rookie QB this season, when a lot of his & the Bears' losses can be blamed on poor coaching!!! But it doesn't matter, Caleb will still be take the brunt of their failure this season. Justin H. yes, has played 5 seasons w/ not a lot of success, BUT it could easily change dramatically these next 5 yrs!!! Compared to how Brock P is talked abt, Jeff Goff & Lamar, at times, it was a pretty fair conversation by all of them.
Didn't even watch the video because I know that Nick has a thing against Herbert, no matter how he plays. You would think Herbert is the worst QB in the league if you listened to Nick's commentary all the time, so I don't bother to watch anymore since he doesn't seem to have much objectivity regarding Justin.

Herbert is a prime example of a guy who when you get him off his game, he loses the plot. Up 28 in the playoffs and got so rattled by things going a little off the beaten path, that he imploded. Ay QB who can't in some way, either by play or by talking with your OC, can't prevent blowing a 28 point lead, has questions to be answered before you say they are a top tier guy.
Herbert has never had better than a bottom 5 defense to protect the wins Herbert has put them in position for. Herbert is a top 3 QB in his career for 4th quarter go ahead drives. He is not on the field to play defense.

Yes, I agree with you. I wish I could ask Nick Wright if Patrick Mahomes had Brandon Staley as his head coach, would he have any Super Bowl wins today? The answer is no, it’s highly unlikely. Nick Wright makes good points mixed with his own bias sprinkled into what he says, and so many people on his show give him a pass. The fact that the chargers are 8 and 4 in a rebuilding year is amazing.
Even Patrick during the week he plays the chargers mid week press conferences over the last few years has said that Herbert can make throws that nobody can make, and he even said and that includes myself as well. Whether that’s actually true or if he was just flattering Justin is hard to prove one way or the other but you can tell he has a ton of respect for Justin.
Also now that Harbaugh doesn’t ask Herbert to throw 35-50 times a game like he was, he is likely never going to have the numbers he used to have which will be unfortunate because many in the media will say he’s not as good as he was his first few years in the league, but that will likely not be true. So now that Herbert is having more team success, the narrative is going to be he isn’t putting up the numbers for the pro bowl, and that he has a top defense blah blah. It’s all to minimize him and he can’t win in either situation he was or is now in.
Finally, look at who Herbert is throwing the ball to this season. It’s guys like Quentin Johnston, Josh Palmer, Ladd McConkey is his best receiver who is a rookie mainly slot receiver. His top targeted tight end is a blocking tight end in Will Dissly who might be the slowest tight end I have ever seen catching passes out there. He doesn’t even have a legit number one receiver, and all of his receivers are number 3 at best receivers except Ladd McConkey is a 2. This is essentially one of the worst pass catching rooms in the entire league and he’s still balling this year with these players.
he is NOT a tier 1 QB, Mahomes puts his team on his back and carries them. Herbert is not capable.
You blame everything on the lack of success on the coaches. Sure they get some of the blame but its almost like you can't critique Herbert at all but you have alot to say about mahomes. Would mahomes win superbowls with Staley i think not but he will do alot better than Herbert did especially with the amount of talent Herbert has had on that roster

Tier 2: Lamar, Josh Allen, Burrow
Tier 3: CJ, Hurts, Goff, a few others

Herbert has had Mike Williams, Keenan Allen, and Ekeler in the past. At some point he has to take the game to the next level. He was amazing his rookie season but has had minimal improvement since. He has checkdowns available but doesnt use them as much as he should
If football was 1v1 then the argument would make sense bc Herbert hasn’t had a good defense until this year the year he has no weapons aside from Ladd who is injured and play calling that’s embarrassing at times
I agree 1,000,000% , Staley was arguably a worse coach than Ritchie Kotite!!! It's just so funny how Nick feels like he has to protect Mahomes against other QB's success, especially against ones in the AFC West!!! Nick is the equivalent of Staley, on First Things First!!!

Justin Herbert has the most underrated upside of any QB in the league. He is easily top 5, but is never in the conversation with the other elite QBs because he has never had the coaching staff or support. Honestly I believe that he was the best QB in his draft class. You CANNOT convince me that he would not have won a Super Bowl by now if he had talent like Jamar Chase and Tee Higgins. Mike Williams and Keenan Allen have barely produced since they left the Chargers.

If all the current starting QBs in the league would be free agents for next season, i think Herbert would get the most calls. hands down. If you know you know. This league has not seen anything like him and its not even close. He can make every throw that other QBs make, there are some Herbert throws that NO other QB can do, or even think about attempting.

all you people over emphasize the qb position. without a solid 53 man roster (they don't even have to be top talent just solid talent) and an elite coach. the position is a guarantee to fail. i had this discussion about herbert (and other QB's) with a coworker just 2 days ago. it more than likely comes down to weather the fan likes the paticular person at qb or not as to weather they think a player is over or underrated. if i don't make sense i just woke up from a deep sleep. sorry not sorry.
I think you are focusing your content too much on contesting every Nick’s take. Its just as tiring as he is, which makes the content doublé tiring, having to Watch him, than you right after.
