  1. Franz really turned around my perception of the Magic. Now I fully expect them to make a good playoff run since they’ve proven that they can win games without Paolo Banchero.

  2. Haven’t watched the video yet, but Franz has great positional size (6’10 and can drive well) which made up for his subpar shooting last year. His shooting has gotten so much better, and HOPEFULLY his left hand (barely uses it as a finisher or handler). His defense is actually underrated, very high motor on that end of the floor, and pushing off the defensive glass. His handle is good, albeit not as creative (probably got better), and his passing is sharp as usual. He can be a connective piece or the first option. An inverted pick and roll would be interesting. Thinking basketball is amazing man

  3. This makes me so happy. Pulled an extremely rare rookie card of his a few years ago so I started watching him to decide if I should sell or hold. Fast forward 3 years and he's now my second favorite NBA player and the Magic have now become my second favorite team as well. Love watching this guy and have been saying for over a year now that Paolo was holding him back. So glad he's had this opportunity to lead the team – hopefully when Paolo comes back they will still run a lot of the offense through Franz. All star this year for sure

  4. Another intriguing thing is how much better he’s gotten. In college, his jumper and self creation + assertiveness were behind his feel for the game and defense. Now, he’s much more comfortable creating shots for himself. He’s turned into an extremely versatile wing that can play 1-3. His off ball game shined in college as well, cutting and relocating. I think his pick and roll handling was good in college too.

  5. I can't wait to see this version of Franz with P5 when he comes back.

But I still think the Magic need an offensive coordinator/ specialist coach to get them into schemes that allow for some easier buckets.

  6. Great video, hard disagree on the premise. Paulo isn’t that great of a player yet. That all star was mostly fraudulent and he’s not a spacer. Of course Franz is going to look better without that player next to him.

  7. What if you did fit breakdowns? Where you could speculate how offenses would run with certain players. So you could imagine what an effective Orlando offense would look like when Paolo returns with two elite decision makers in him and Franz. You could expand that to historical scenarios, what ifs, etc. example: What would AI’s 2001 Sixers look like if you added a young Tracy McGrady? Or Giannis? What if the Blazers took KD over Greg Oden? Would be a ton of fun to watch you apply your knowledge. Love the video as always

  8. Thank god this is a regular video for everyone. I subscribe to the Patreon to help ensure quality content becomes the norm within the basketball community, not to gate keep it from everyone else. Hopefully there isn't a relapse to what y'all did during the last video, that was such a bad taste in the mouth. Now if we can only get the "full" version out to everyone, not just Patreon members like me, even if its a delayed release.

  9. The magic seem vastly improved, Franz is a really solid talent…. Him and banchero are a good pair

  10. as a german who has seen franz ball out for team germany in eurobasket and world cup (and olympics too) its so nice to see him make the next step and also get more mainstream recognition for his superb season and his general skills

  11. 5:42 Malik Beasley was absolutely fuming about that discard by Wagner. I don't know the relevant rules around that kind of contact, is that some kind of foul or is it ok? I see players doing it a lot but I'm not sure if its just a matter of refs not calling it

  12. This is what happens when you have a high basketball IQ and great feel for the game, as well as being fundamentally sound on the basketball basics
He is a greeeaaaat player 👊🏽

  13. Reminds me a lot of Hedo Turkoglu. Perhaps with a better handle and slightly worse jumper—though the data may prove my eye test wrong.
