This month’s LIV Golf vs PGA Tour showdown will see Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka make history in Las Vegas.
For what is believed to the first time ever, the winner of a major sports competition will receive their prize money entirely in cryptocurrency.
Scheffler and McIlroy, two of the biggest stars on the PGA Tour, are taking on DeChambeau and Koepka, two of the most high-profile defectors to the Saudi-backed breakaway.
The unofficial clash between the rival tours, known as The Crypto.com Showdown, will take place at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas on December 17.
It emerged on Monday that the two teams will be dueling for a $10million prize pot. But the winners and losers will be paid in CRO tokens.
Most tournaments on the PGA Tour, other than majors and signature events, offer total prize money of around $8-$9m.
