This video consists of the Ping i530 being reviewed in detail. These irons are for the higher handicapped player but someone who is looking for a players iron behind the ball. The performance shocked Rick and the team with it’s results. The irons are using some regular technology and some newer technology, such as more grooves on the club face.

Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This YouTube channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!

I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.

I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!

On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

  1. You are way behind on reviews. 3 years late on Takomo. Never looked at New Level etc. etc. etc.

  2. I’d like to hear thoughts on some beginner sets up clubs being a new golfer. I bought the Hogan FW-817 set, would like to hear your thoughts on those and other sets in the same price range $430 and not all iron sets that are all like $1,000

  3. I wanna see a review of the Gen7 PXG 0317CB's… Watched a review that was statistically showing them being the most forgiving club PXG makes, which seems crazy to me… but would be awesome if its true.

  4. Challenge: play 2025 with a set of players distance irons and see how your results in your different series compare to 2024. At the end of the year decide what the 2026 bag setup looks like. I think everyone should do whatever they can to make golf as easy as possible.

  5. Great video as always Rick! Would like to see (maybe) if you could try and review game improvement irons for us seniors. I am sure it might be hard for your talent level but I am sure you could come up with something. Maybe irons like the Cleveland that has the “hybrid like” heads all the way down to the P wedge. Thanks.

  6. the magic Paul Rymer of the Ping Fitting Center Europe helped me find the perfect fit for these irons (I'm 67, 9hcp) and, after almost 40 years of golf, I can say that I have found a new set of absolutely excellent irons. Ping never disappoints, but these irons are beautiful, easy to use and super performing

  7. I know you have a clothing sponsor, but must you wear such rustling garments to do an indoor review!?

  8. I play a combo set of blueprints and i230s but I have a 4 iron in the i530 as my “3 iron” because the strong lofts. Works perfectly!

  9. I got this set about 4 months ago in place of the P790 and for me the feel is incredible.
Didn’t get the 4 iron in the set as it went as far as my 5 wood !

  10. Genuinely believe these sorts of irons but weaken the lofts would suit so many players even more than they already do

  11. Hey Rick, what i will never understand is why you, Peter etc don’t use these types of clubs. When i see you guys test them you basically land every ball on the green and get consistent distances without any stress, It seems like thats the goal but then better players consistently grab more cavity or players clubs. Maybe a podcast topic. Its kind of related to when you started grabbing a rescue instead of an iron in the solina series.

  12. I just tried i500s and the forgiveness difference compared to cavity-blades for long irons was insane. If you can find i500 series used for 500$, get them

  13. Are there any companies that are still making classic irons? They all seem to look like this these days, with their 'speed-foam' hollow heads and other nonsense.

  14. Lovely clubs, always like Ping, Have looked at these a few times in the pro shop, but I really can't justify changing my 3 yr old P790s,

  15. I got fitted for the i530’s earlier this year – if you think they are too strong lofted, Ping offer retro lie angles (which is what I got fitted for) – less loft, less distance, more spin. Love them.

  16. Could you review the cobra darkspeed one length hybrid? I've heard some prefer that over a regular 5h in their bag

  17. Don’t know why you wouldn’t use clubs like these Rick. They allow you to hit it further, straighter, easier… Am I missing something. I honestly don’t get it. Let’s go back to blades and breaking 90…

  18. I had the P790s, and got the I530s this year. My impression is that they are equally forgiving but the strong loft makes the 4 and 5 iron a little bit more tricky to hit than with the P790s. Anyways, great clubs. Looks amazing too! 😁🏌️⛳️

  19. Just go retro loft for a little less distance and more spin. 3 degrees more loft, probably 500 or so more revs. Spot on.

  20. You work on most aspects of your golf Rick. Ever done any statistics on how often your draw makes you miss left? Seems often…
