  1. I had the chunkier OSS version of these. The wedges felt awful and made a whistling sound.

  2. On my list of ugliness irons ever made, right next to the Cleveland VAS irons. I think Nike put a bandage clip on the back of those irons.

  3. I have two Nike iron sets, Pro Combo 2014s, and Vrs Covert Forged 2s. Both are great in their own right.

  4. Bingo James. They were so ahead of there time no one knew what they were doing. So tech nike was using seemed crazy or unconventional. Fast forward now everyone is using there tech. 😮

  5. I would like, strictly for nostalgic purposes, the old school Tommy Armour 845’s from back when I was in high school (early to mid 90’s). I caddied all summer to get those clubs, and still came up short with the money. I wanted to try out for my high school team but when I practiced before the season started with the guys that were on the team, they really ripped on me for my old Wilson irons that I was given by my great uncle! They were super blades! And even though I shot as good or better then the other guys, I was laughed at on the course. And when you’re 13 and a freshmen, that kinda hurt! 😅. It wasn’t until the coach saw me beating our senior starters as a freshman, with my “old man clubs”, when the other guys started to be decent towards me.
I ended up starting as a freshman. And I played all 4 years with those old clubs I had. I did love to caddy back then. I loved seeing the clubs that those guys had. And I learned a lot about golf to be honest.
But I will always feel a little sad knowing I never got to own the one set of clubs I really wanted. So I’d love to see them come back with the old school aesthetics.

  6. "forgiving" clubs stunt your growth. If you don't get penalized for a bad shot you'll never learn to adjust your swing to hit good shots.

  7. I play the Slingshot OSS version myself and they are wonderful irons. I think these were way ahead of their time.

  8. I bought these when they first came out and literally just replaced this year with P790s. Great clubs, I broke 80 several times with them. I only upgraded because I figured it was about time lol. I still have them just in case though. Bonus, I Upgraded my matchspeed SQ driver too lol

  9. with many companies going Hollow body, Those Nike irons played so easy in the day, I had it with the cpr hybid which even today would do mwell.

  10. Haha I played the sumo driver for a few seasons and actually I loved the thing. Only problem was it was so quiet off the clubhead. I always thought their clubs looked amazing and sounded great minus the sumo. If didn’t play cobra I would have been playing Nike. Also loved their golf balls was upset they stopped their balls.

  11. If Nike Golf had persevered for a couple more years I’m sure they’d be one of the top top brands by now

  12. Haha. Don't laugh, I am 9hcp and I still use my nike slingshot 4d from 2012ish? – which is the model after this. They are awesome. Also got a set of callawy epics and I keep going back to the slingshots. The 4D model looks way better. No chance of a cheap replacement set now though!

  13. I bought a sw to 2 iron set of Ryder mk2 clubs ……. For a tenner.

Gonna get them reshafted as I absolutely love them😍

  14. I’ve been playing Nike VR irons for the couple years and I love them. Just picked up a Nike methodcore center shafted putter that’s going in my bag as well. Hopefully by next year I’ll just have an entire bag of Nike other than my wedges

  15. Great video James! Thank you for continuing to review more affordable clubs and showing how they can still perform with today's market. God Bless you brother
