IndyStar insiders Joel A. Erickson and Nate Atkins break down an ugly offensive performance in the Colts’ 24-6 loss to the Detroit Lions, including Anthony Richardson’s play, a struggling offensive line, a nonexistent group of tight ends and some places Indianapolis should have shored up this offseason.

  1. Darn i thought this would be ogletrees game. i new that opportunity would be there in redzone youd think an nfl player catches that.

  2. All the Lions needed to score was 7 points today. They had to be laughing on their bench just watching AR’s unpredictability and our offensive linemen’s porous play. Detroit didn’t have to break a sweat today. Ballard built this.🤬🤬🤬

  3. Anyone predicting lots of points from the Colts hasn't done their homework on Detroit D. Reading the injury report and predicting AR to have a big day is delusional. Detroit defense is one of the best defenses they just don't need to be great most weeks.

QB's struggle vs Detroit D, just about every week…so this week was very predictable.

  4. Dudes don't be sad about you Offense, Detroit has the second lowest Points Against in the NFL. Its just that people are always talking about Detroit being number 1 in points scored. Yeah, Detroit's PF is more than twice thier PA … its a good year to be a Lions fan.

  5. Lions fan here. I thought your defense played our running game as good as anyone has this year. Our WRs did not run wild and your secondary was on them as soon as they caught a ball.

I will agree that your TEs leave a bit to be desired. But i am not sure of your qb is comfortable throwing underneath at this point (may also be do to offensive game plan for a young qb). His long balls look great though (similar to how M. Stafford performed in his first three to four years).

Your RB is awesome and even though the stats didnt show it, your run game looked a lot tougher than any other lions opponent this year. Surprised you dont do more play action, but this may be due to a young qb.

  6. Lions fan here and it has to be said that Indy’s D played Detroit better than Minnesota when the Vikes were undefeated and no one had figured out the Flores scheme. Franklin was EVERYWHERE. Post game Campbell said the Lions D came in that game looking to stop Taylor to make AR beat them with his arm. When Indy figures that out that team is gonna be something good.

  7. The penalties are a result of the pressure the Lions put on teams. Still can't believe the Colts tight-end whiffed on the pass in the end-zone. Richardson did not catch any breaks on Sunday, and really reminds me of a young Cam Newton but a little more inaccurate with his throws at this stage. Thanks for the excellent exchanges here. Good stuff!

  8. Lions fan here and I want to tell you about some things I noticed during the game. Do not give up on AR try tackling that big SOB. He has a hell of a good arm just needs more time to develop. You need to get a drill sgt. type to whip the whole team into shape I saw some tired people in the first half on your defense. We did not blow you out of the water like other teams and we didn't let up on you, you got our best shot. Damn good game just hang in there and it will come.
