So you like the tee in front of the ball drill to create great impact with irons and hybrids. But what about driver? Will the same drill work? Possible, with a couple set up alterations.
Within this video, John Hughes discusses how you can create a better face and path at impact with your driver when you place a second tee in front of the one your ball lies upon. Attempting to hit a second ball in front of the first ball. It’s an innovative approach to taking your mind off hitting at the golf ball to develop a mentality of hitting through the ball with your driver.
The tee in front of the tee drill is aimed at improving your swing mechanics. Particularly the golfers who struggle to keep their driver on plane. Doing so will avoid the possibility of hitting across the ball, in turn, creating a spin axis you can not control.
It’s a very simple drill. Place a tee approximately 2-3 inches in front of the tee you’re using with the ball. Focus upon hitting the imaginary ball on the tee in front of the one with the ball on it. Doing so will assist with keeping your swing on plan and path. And allow you the ability to control the face at impact without over manipulating the club.
Remember, this drill is not about how far you can hit the ball. It’s about getting the ball to hit squarely in the middle of the club face., and by doing so, distance will increase without the need to over swing.

Interesting drill John when practicing driver! I could probably use this since on occasion I do break tees with driver and I think that because of my angle of attack to the ball! It doesn't happen often, but it does happen!
