  1. Meltzer saying that fact checkers were badly needed is the most ironic thing I’ve ever heard in my entire life

  2. The finger poke of doom ruined WCW not just because of one false advertised main event but because it changed the focus storyline from a new suspenseful Wcw vs wolfpac vs Nwo white 3 way battle back to just being about Goldberg vs Hogan and the Nwo AGAIN. Half the crowd who hated Hogan and Goldberg suddenly had no one to root for. It all digressed back to the same ol boring wcw vs nwo bs again.

  3. The story of this clip is two hypocrites questioning “fact checking” go on a diatribe that translates to, ‘They didn’t invite Dave to this one so it all untrue.’

  4. I can’t stand Dave Meltzer. Mr. AEW. When they make a documentary of the downfall of AEW, he’s going to be one of the reasons why. 😂

  5. He’s completely wrong. To say the merger in 96 would’ve ruined the massive run in 97 is nonsense. He apparently doesn’t know what happens when companies merge. It takes a couple years for any type of major impact due to the settling process of any and all changes made due to the merger. By his logic, any new pitfalls from the merger would’ve had to have been with immediate effect and that’s just incorrect.

  6. Dave saying someone needs fact checkers is rich coming from the guy who needs fact checkers concerning his dirt sheet every minute of the day.

  7. WcW could've and would've bounced back…. Regardless….it being sold is one thing… being sold to the WWF is a complete other

  8. everyone with a brain knows EB was a huge reason why wcw died, tons of his decisions were terrible and led to their downfall. losing money and fans at a rapid rate and the booking fell on him at the end of the day.

  9. Bischoff definitely had some fault in the goings on, but the bottom line isn’t and hasn’t ever changed: If WCW wasn’t a TV company, it didn’t exist, and the late Jamie Kellner canceled the TV. Ted Turner wouldn’t have let them cancel it if he had control, but he didn’t have control after the series of mergers.

On top of this, Meltzer has always taken his outsized reputation out for a walk and never bothered to look where it takes him, so he has decent understanding of professional wrestling but not every sub-fact of business around it. As a result, he’s going to attest to what happened at meetings that he didn’t have a source in, as if he’d know. He has become, and willfully remains, a clown.

  10. The merger officially happened in Oct of 1996, but Time Warner and Turner networks didn't fully merge until mid 1997. wcw already had their budget set from Turner for 1997 by the fall of 1996. So Time Warner couldn't mess with any of Turner networks show budgets until 1998. In 1998 WCW did initially have their budget cut. And each year after that it got cut more and more until it got sold in 2001.

  11. It’d hilarious that meltzer and his stooge try to spin this like Dewayne Johnson and his team just decided to do bischoff a favor.

Getting literal from their own mouth interviews from high turner executives vs Alvarez and meltzers “sources”.

Please… meltzers joke. And Alvarez is about there too

  12. I don't usually tend to agree with Dave Meltzer, but when the man who constantly preaches untrue crap about AEW can call bull on your program that's a problem.

  13. Meltzer is a moron. The show literally featured former Turner execs admitting they used creative accounting to allocate losses from other divisions onto WCW to make their bottom line look worse than it really was. When you have people within your organization that are actively trying to kill your company, there is no way you can survive. Knowing what we know now, WCW had zero chance to make it when you had people doing everything they could to sabotage it.
