An absolute terrible pairing for team USA. Neither of those guys know how to play doubles. From their shot selection to court positioning, absolutely terrible doubles play.
Tommy Paul is the culprit for the USA defeat… doesn't know what to do; committed a lot of errors, and looking too amateurish… Shelton has been left playing like a horse going all over the court… Team USA should have let Paul and Shelton play in the singles and the Bryan Brothers in the doubles….. Very bad decision making for Bob Bryan… Ego going into the tournament….
All of this could be avoided if Bryan didn't let ben play. What a liability
The best TEAM won.
where's Ram and Krajicek? They played well for the USA in the Olympics.
Proof that a good doubles team is better than two top-tier singles players.
All the American's complaining about Paul after watching a few minutes of highlights…but it was Shelton that lost his own singles rubber, and we all know how selective Tennis TV is with their highlights.
always good to see shelton on the losing side
Well done Australia…..🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
bye bye Ben 👋🏻
Paul was horrible. He kept volleying directly back to one of the Aussies instead of angling away. Very evident his lack of doubles skills
Paul sucked big time. Stick to singles man. Same can said for Shelton. US Captain sucked the most!!
Is it fair to say that Shelton single-handedly stopped the US from advancing to the next round with the way he played his single and double match? Or, the captain from putting Shelton in twice?
Love Hewitt as a coach, such a hype !
jorden?
I really like Tommy Paul 😀
Using neither Ram nor Kraicjek is mind boggling
As good as Tommy is at singles, he was clueless out there in dubs, positioning was horrendous and couldn't kill volleys.
Bring it back to kooyong @itf
Australia have several doubles teams that are great.
Berrettini & Sinner: HOLD MY BEER!! 😎
Well done Australia 🦘 enjoy the win
This is so typical. It doesn't matter where you go in the world or what sport you're watching, Australians just win everything. The crush it and I feel so much sympathy for all the other nations that try to compete against them.
Tommy had so many volleys that should have finished the point at the spot, especially second set 🙁
You don't get the McEnroe's out there that are playing singles and doubles. I saw a lot of doubles inexperience by the U.S., probably should have went with a more solidified team. The Aussie's are always strong in doubles. Kokkonakis is 6'5"?
Someone needs to teach Tommy Paul how to put away a sitter at net.
USA insists on playing the frat brother's every time. Mardy Fish did it and now A Bryan brother. Crazy.
Hopefull Ram and Krej ignore any requests from these 'coaches' in the future. They have burnt their bridges
*Jordan
I wanna see Usa play against Italy
Shelton volleying back towards the baseliner and silly circus shots…..seriously bruh! US players are pro singles players but amateur doubles players.
Sheldon can play net. But u can see Paul uncomfortable at net. A doubles team can beat any two singles players put together. Doubles requires diffrent skills, mentality and tactics.
I'm always confident in my call that 2 doubles specialist cannot really beat two top-ranked singles players that joined forces to play double
Thompson and Ebden ARE NOT doubles specialist, they are ranked better as doubles player but they play decent singles games, esp. the on-fire Thompson. They are not like Patten/Heliovaraa or Gonzales/Molteni or Krawietz/Putz for example that barely has anything to say on singles, both Ebden and Thompson are decent singles players and even better player as doubles.
Shelton and Paul is just a mess of a combo since none of them have serious focus on doubles and Paul is not really known for his volley. Should've played Ram/Shelton or Ram/Krajicek
What a marvellous performance by Australia ! Thompson and Ebden are really the perfect pairing! Aussie Aussie Aussie oi oi oi !
There’s a lot of attention on the US doubles decision and not the quality of the Aussie team. They deserve more credit. Any number of combos still would’ve struggled against the Aussies.
the us pair is so bad at double !
It's amazing to see USA loose against Australia.
Absolutely embarrassing on the part of the US coach. You're going to put in two guys who have no idea how to play professional level dubles against someone like Ebden, not to mention Thompson? What a boneheaded decision.
I don't understand, Tom Paul is not a double player, never was. What were they thinking here?????
paul is so bad
Tommy Paul's decisions were questionable at best.
terrible positioning by Paul all match long plus not killer instinct on the net. This guy never plays doubles for sure ! What a weird selection by a captain who was a doubles specialist !!!
doppio USA troppo scarso !!
Bryan is a joke!!! Honestly
Just gotta love the Aussie's double players pool. They all play so well!
4:21 damnn he's so steady handling that rocket
tommy needs to put away those volleys. plain and simple
