Hybrid golf clubs should be illegal! They’re so forgiving and easy to hit. Aussie Golf Pros demonstrates how to hit hybrid golf clubs on the golf course. Using an 8 hybrid golf club, Glen Haynes hits successful punch shots and chip shots with this Cleveland Halo XL Full Face Hybrid Iron.

Hybrid golf clubs for seniors are a no-brainer! They have a larger hitting area, lower centre of gravity, can hit the ball further and higher. They’re so easy to hit! However, as proven today, hybrid golf irons are extremely versatile and should definitely be considered for your next golf set.

Thank you Bill for writing in, asking us about using your hybrid golf set around the greens and when hitting golf punch shots. We hope you benefit from our examples and it helps you build confidence in these amazing golf clubs.

ABOUT AUSSIE GOLF PROS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Steve Gannon and Glen Haynes created Aussie Golf Pros to provide a learning platform for golfers of all levels. They post content regularly on social media accounts. Their website, www.aussiegolfpros.com, includes blogposts, golf coaching series and links to great programs. New content, videos and downloads are added regularly.
Golf Coaches, Not Teachers
The Aussie Golf Pros are holistic coaches in every sense of the word. Steve and Glen are both fully qualified members of the PGA of Australia and are avid students of the Sports Sciences. Together, they are certified in Advanced Golf Coaching, Golf Psychology, TPI (Body-Swing Connection), NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), Personal Development and Skill Acquisition.
Steve and Glen are not ‘Method’ coaches. They recognise that there are literally 1000’s of ways to swing a golf club! Rather than try to ‘change’ your swing, their goal is to help You Be The Best Golfer You Can Be!
Skill Development vs Technical Changes
Although technique is an important factor in improving a golfer’s performance, Skill Development is largely neglected in golf coaching today. Skill is something that can be tangibly improved with proper understanding of the golf impact laws and effective practice towards improved performance.
External Focus of Attention
Most golf teaching involves an internal focus. Common suggestions might include increased hip turn, a still head or improved hand path. These are all factors of the golf swing, which many golfers and teachers consider important. However, as they are focused internally, on movements of the body, golfers find changes extremely difficult to process.
  1. Excellent job Glen in comparing the hybrid and regular irons on pitch and chip shots! As a senior golfer, I replaced my long irons a few years ago with hybrids! I have now purchased a set of graphite shafted hybrid irons with a wide sole and a cavity back! I feel that with the kikuyu grass that I play on in Southern California, these clubs are a lot easier to get through the ball! As Always, Well Done Glen!
  2. Hey Glen and Steve,
    A really enjoyable video. Love the comparisons between irons and hybrids. Something I struggle with is chipping with a hybrid. How hot the ball comes off the face. Keep up the great work guys.
    Cheers
    Joe
  3. Thanks Glen. I have a 4 and 5 iron in the Cleveland hybrid. I use them when I’m not feeling great with my normal long irons. They are so easy to hit, though a bit harder to manipulate your shots. I’d recommend them to anyone who is struggling with their irons. Cheers, Steve
