Can A Struggling Golfer BREAK 100 At The HARDEST Golf Course In The UK?

We’ve brought the Break 100 series to a new golf course – Hollinwell Golf Club, aka Notts Golf Club! This is the HARDEST golf course in the UK for women, and one of the hardest for men as well. Definitely not an easy challenge at all, but really grateful I got to play here. Thank you to Hollinwell for having us down, I hope you all enjoy this much longer video with multiple camera angles!

** Apologies for the issues with the mic at certain points. The mics we have should be able to pick up audio up to 250 metres in range no matter what direction we’re facing, but it seems as though there’s a long standing issue in general that others experience with this mic. With the dots on the screen, apologies for this too! We did wipe the lens down before filming but the issue seems to be within the lens itself. We’ve got the kit off Amazon which should sort the issue. 🙂

  1. as a ex 8 handicap, that gave up playing for 20 years you made the same mistake I make now on the 16th, wedge out and play from there it'll save a few shots edit I think you and Danny should try a collab with up and down golf and bogey golf that would be fun, but im pleased for you shooting handicap on any new course is really tough

  2. Chipping is better. Have it feel as if your arms are moving because your body it is moving.
In golf parlance this is often referred to as a caddie drag.
As when you walk your arms naturally swing all by themselves. In that your swing rhythm should echo your natural gait. Your natural way of walking. Also for training throwing horseshoes is a good exercise to get the feeling of what I am trying to relate to you.

You need another wedge in there 56*-PW probably less than 48* and that is too large a gap.
You need a 52* in there or some gap or sand wedge.
Statistically Danny is right. Personally, I use a chipper which is set to like a 7iron 34*.
The 56* is too easy to smudge, or goof up. Imo. Use it for pitches or sand.
They are called fairway woods for a reason. Use them when in the fairway.
Me too, year of the Rabbit. Nice Putting, your motion is consistent and true, accurate.
You want the putt to go 4-5 inches past the hole in most cases, to remain true to its line and to avoid lip outs, or the dreaded leaving a putt short.

Woods going right. The cause of this, in your case, is ball position too far back. You are afraid of topping the ball, so you set it too far back and the club face is open when you contact the ball. Hitting off the heal, in your case, too quick, coming over the top. Set then swing. The same goes for irons too, though you can punch them, and probably should more often. Just punch an 8 or 9 in an let it run, rather than a wedge to try and drop it on the green. Oh, the 56* would have been a good choice on your lucky hit. To get over the trap and roll onto the green.

Finally dropping into the slot. The feel is a waiting one as your turn back is pulling the arms down there, flatter, so no slicing. I use the natural feel of the elbow riding on top of the hip like in a punch shot, which you are good at. Like an uppercut from boxing terminology. So, the arm releases as it passes riding along the hip. A natural easy for the body to get feeling.

  3. Alia you need to think about club selection…you used a five wood out of the rough when the seven iron was a much wiser option and perhaps putt around the greens more , you make it hard for yourself. It doesn’t make sense you choosing a five wood because it’s your favourite. Confidence is important but more important is club selection. Your videos are great and I love your enthusiasm, good luck.

  4. Alia, I have to tell you that is a magnificent effort round Notts!
Well done you! I thought you would have been nearer to your estimate of what you would score, 40 – 50 over…EXCELLENT JOB 👍

  5. Great effort, you have a good swing. You just have a closed stance. Make sure your right arm shoulder hang lower to reduce your slice.

  6. Remember to think about lies like at 8:39 the ball is quite significantly below your feet which means it will tend to go to the right.

Also an 18 hole video for one person should not be much longer than an hour. Bogey Golf does some excellently edited 18 hole Break 100s that are ~ around 50 minutes. You need less filler. I'm not gonna give you nearly two hours of my time.

  7. At the 8th, when you said: ‘Too strong!’, my 14-year-old daughter's reaction was: ‘Perfect!’
Why? Because you gave the ball a chance to fall. Otherwise, right on line, it might have been 10 cm too short again (see: hole 9 or 12, for example!). So all good… or ‘perfect’, as my daughter spontaneously exclaimed as soon as the club hit the ball. And you confirmed it on the 11th: I somehow missed your ‘Too strong!’ a little there 😉… although the putt showed that you had a perfect ‘feel’ there. But it was nice that you made up for it a little later: ‘Too strong! And what was it? Right: Almost perfect again!😂
Your 3rd shot on the 10th reminded me of my 2nd-eldest daughter (12) when she recently played her first tournament. A completely mishit chip over a bunker that got such a bounce at the bunker edge that it jumped high onto the green and fell into the hole. She was so embarrassed by this Eagle on the par 5 that she almost didn't want to stop apologising to her co-players.🤣
Otherwise: Trust Danny (?) more. He knows what he's advising you. And I think it would be better for your game if you built up more confidence in your irons. Of course, that means a lot of work. Because without practising, practising, practising, no confidence can develop.
    Salutations des Caraïbes françaises…🙂

(Finally, I hope once again that my translator from French into English didn't make any bad mistakes…)

  8. On the 6th that wasn’t a drop in the bunker that was a placement 😂. And that bunker raking was awful.

And on 12 where you lose the ball (other than in a red stake area) you have to drop and play your next shot from where you hit the previous one. Not just randomly drop it somewhere “up there”.

  9. Alia… loving what you do… 😊… keep it up and keep up striving… you’ll get there… so good to watch 👍🏻👍🏻😊

  10. Alia, perhaps as a woman then you should checkout Georgia Ball Golf, she is a golf instructor and has sections on her channel especially for women…..

  11. Danni boy, desipointed with the hybrid off the tee on the 13th hole with that swing you could have hit a 7 and landed it, but I'm enjoying your twos video it's the first time watching and glad it's the couse I have lesson at it's a great place and has amazing staff there.
