Kirk Herbstreit Breaks Down Over Dog’s Death on ‘College GameDay’
“Thank you again for all the outpouring of love for our Ben. I can’t tell you how much it means to me and my family.
He wasn’t just my best friend – he was America’s best friend ❤️”
Lee Corso comforts Kirk after Kirk has supported Lee through the years.

They don't live long enough..we have 6 rescues and the love and joy we can give to them is my favorite in life…RIP Ben
I had a dog like that years ago, a special type of Golden that reminds me of Ben. I'll tell you, it was traumatic for me too. I was like Kirk for about a week or two. It still hurts.
As my vet told me, Goldens are more prone to cancer than most breeds. This breed is the most loving and wants to please. I lost my Golden over a year ago and know the heartache.
From everyone who has loved and lost a beloved pet. We understand .
There is just something special about dogs. Ben was very special. 💙🙏
Corso is literally the ONLY reason I even bother to tune in.
His heart is broken-anyone who’s ever loved and lost a dog can relate, it’s a pain like no other.
This is legitimately sad. Losing a pet is a horrible feeling that I wouldn’t wish on anybody.
Hey Kirk, I said something for you on my Facebook. My dad was a QB for Oklahoma and in the NFL and CFL. My dad was Indian Jack Jacobs. God bless you.
Love you Kirk and Ben!
Don't worry, Kirk. Anyone who's lost something or someone they've loved knows exactly the pain you have inside. We had a Siberian Husky that we got when he was five weeks old and unfortunately had to lay him to sleep four days after his 12th birthday. He was as they say, "a part of the family" so I know what Kirk is going through. It's not a sign of weakness to express emotions after the loss of a loved one, whether it be human or animal. It's a sign of love and respect for the times spent together and the bonds that were created.
I've sobbed uncontrollably for every dog I've ever had. RIP. They are special family members. I can relate.
I hadn’t heard about Ben until just now. 💔😭
Men love their dogs more than their wives and Herbstreit is proof..
I know the feeling. It’s difficult to lose a dog. They love you no matter what
"A dog's only flaw as a species is that they don't live long enough."
Yes yes yes
It’s very painful. Recently had to put down a pet and it really hits hard. Thanks Kirk. You’re a good man.
There is another Ben at a shelter looking for a home Kirk. When you are ready, go get him or her…You are a dog person for life..
Oh man Kirk I understand it. I love it every day for the last 10 years that I lost my girl and it’s been 10 years and I still go through what you went through on this video almost every day I do I go through that. There’s nothing wrong with that. You loved your dog as I did mine it’s still hard to talk about her and when I do get sad about her memory, I’m like you I can’t even talk
This is why i don't have a pet it sucks when the pass 😔…But i understand why people get them , RIP BEN🙂↕️
RIP BEN
Man’s best friend. ❤️🐶
Kirk Herbstreit has always been a "Class Act!!" God Bless both Kirk and Ben. Hang in their Kirk! Later Buddy!

Didn’t ol’ Kirk cry on tv before when he apologized for being racist?
We lost our lab of ten years on 21 October 2024 R.I.P Bullet still can’t believe he’s gone wife and I fell for you Kirk.
Well, this has made me a Kirk Herbstreit fan for life, now. Anyone who loves their dog this much has to be a good guy. Thinking of your family, Kirk.

I can feel that man’s sadness. Losing a best friend that loves you unconditionally is the hardest thing I’ve gone through.
That's how they came up with "man's best friend". Every dog owner has to deal with the loss of them. R.I.P. Ben. Thanks Kirk for letting us share your joy! ❤
What a heart felt message about Kirks best friend. We lost our dog this past August, hardest day of my life when we had to say goodbye. The greif of loosing a so much family loved dog, can't be described. I am so proud of the quality of life we gave her, just as Kirk gave his beloved companion.
Hey Ben, if you read this, please seach out Penny and tell her we so miss her.
Ben, representing what a dog means in a man's life: love, company, loyalty…
Kirk, representing what we feel when we lose our best friend…
RIP Ben, thanks God for dogs as man's best friend ❤️

Give your pup a kiss for Ben
Too bad people show more love for a pet than for a fetus.
I'm sorry for your loss,Kirk.I understand your tears. You're a good man.Ben was an awesome dog who brought a whole lot of love to us and even more to you.He could not have been in a better home and with a better, more loving owner, than you.Rest peacefully Ben.
I know exactly how he feels. I had a Rhodesian Ridgeback name Red who was my friend and companion. I had to leave him with my parents when I deployed overseas during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. I remember I received a letter from my mom one hot day in November, mom had said that Red had passed away. That was a hard afternoon and evening. Thank goodness for friends who will help share your pain and provide comfort. Thank you, Kirk, for this special look into your life and sharing this story with us. May God bless and comfort you.
Just image if everyone had this passion for Christ and the unsaved.

I can relate to him, I just lost my dog of 11 years to cancer and it was the hardest thing ever. I know that Kirk will never see this, but I am praying that he will overcome this pain and God will help him with his grief. My dogs name was Maxx, and he was a black Labrador retriever and he was one of those dogs that brought a smile to everybody’s face. I miss him so much and I want him back but there is nothing I can do to help it. I have another dog and he is now my only dog but I give all of the love that I gave Maxx. If you did read this thank you, I just needed to vent.
As my dad says “Some dogs exist and some dogs live” and Ben lived.
i just don't get it. a dog is a dog. wtf with all these dog worshippers
Losing a pet/friend is so powerful and the hurt is real. They are our companion. Kirk, we feel for you buddy. 😢
