We take a look at a virtually new Titleist T350 iron set and why the golfer probably out grew them a bit quickly.

T350 are my favorite
Man I love the video where you play detective with second hand irons. Definitely my favorites.
I’m very similar to the chap that had these and working on my swing but toe strike still needs work. Looking at the lynx vt after your video a while back just don’t know on stiff graphite or steel thanks. I’m 1/2 inch long 3’ up right. Playing ping i20.
Golf club forensics 😀 Thanks for the vid, very insightful, as usual!
If I may ask something: we always hear about "forgiveness on off-center strikes". I understand the idea, but I never seen any video or information about what exactly that means. So if I strike a blade severely off the toe, it would be shorter than a center strike. With a (S)GI there would be less drop off. But by how much? What are you actually loosing among the different type of "club genres"?
I love my t -350s.
Use the red tensei. Most of my swings are 3/4 swings so not as much distance. But accuracy is at a premium. Thanks.
Control means, if your swing mechanics are not sound, it doesn’t matter what clubs you use! Thanks for this piece.
Great video again Simon. I have been ribbed by my playing crowd on buying 2nd hand clubs over the past 3 years and flipping them. It's very hard to find a good fitter and build a trusting relationship with them, as has been mentioned before on your channel, the success of the fitting is all subject to your swing on the fitting day. However, I have found that if you buy 2nd hand and test over a number of rounds, you can eventually find a set that works IMHO or at least a set up that works. It took me a while but I am now very happy with the results of a players distance iron with stiff shaft, it has proved to be the most consistent set up for me and could have never of got there without eBay, channels like yours and thoroughly testing them on the course and range. This is just my opinion of course, but it definitely worked for me.
Love the C-taper Lite 115X shafts. I had them in my T150.
I was browsing the used clubs at Golf Galaxy and someone actually traded in a set of Mizuno Pro 221 with Nippon 950s in senior flex. Who plays a senior flex in a true blade? 😂
The shafts, WOW! But I'm not sure how someone could be fitted for these, given that "he" seems to be a beginner golfer! As well as a strong boy!!!
But, this just summarises why "getting fitted" isn't always the best idea! With a beginner/improver, no! Go away, come back in 6 months!
With an older golfer – well how do you tell an old git like me that, no, try the "Ladies" shaft! I can think of 20+ golfers at my Club who would have walked out at that point, but………!!!!! Sshhh! Don't tell anyone!!!!
As someone who purchased new T200’s, I’ll be honest and say they really feel no different than my old 712 AP1’s. Personally, I’ve thought of selling them off because the dispersion is a little better, but I feel like when I’m out on the course I don’t feel the difference as much comparing to being in a simulator or range. The numbers are technically better, but I feel as though it’s more me than the clubs once I’m out there on the course, if that makes sense.
I played with a guy who had a 4 knuckle grip and the right hand was well under the shaft. He pushed his hands forward even with the driver to try and keep the face square. Failed of course. With the driver his hands were in front of his left thigh. I couldn't stand like that if I tried. He was sporting the most oxymoron driver I have ever seen. 12.5 degrees loft and X stiff shaft despite being a less than average hitter. Never seen a combination like it. Needless to say he lost a minimum of 6 balls a round and bizarrly on par 3's would ask me what club I took as if that information would be any use to a person with that grip. Fix the fundamentals as a fitting as no use to anybody.
I have T400 !! And I changed from Hot Metals so more forgiving and powerful. Thing is if you can’t generate faster swing speeds you need powerful delofted clubs with tungsten for height. But unlikely to have a stiff steel shaft in them !!
Great work Simon, I like the break downs of of older equipment. I play old irons, Yonex ADX Tour Forged irons with their LTB600 Boron reinforced shafts, stiff flex. I love the way they feel. Have there been big gains in graphite iron shafts and how well does this old shaft fair against newer graphite iron shafts?
