Lydia Ko has been awarded the 2024 LPGA Heather Farr Perseverance Award which honours a player’s hard work and dedication to the sport.

LPGA Hall of Fame member Ko was voted to receive the award by her fellow Tour players and will accept the award at the LPGA Awards next week.

“Words cannot describe how immensely grateful I am to receive this award from my peers,” said Ko.

“There have been countless hours of time and hard work to get to where I am in my career now, but I would be nowhere without the many people that supported, encouraged and believed in me at every stage. This year has been incredible in so many ways and it is a time that I will always cherish, so to receive an award of this significance at the end of my 2024 season is truly special.”

Established in 1994, the Heather Farr Perseverance Award honours LPGA Tour player Heather Farr, who died in 1993, following a four-and-a-half-year battle with breast cancer.

Ko joined the LPGA Tour in 2014 and has since won 22 LPGA titles, including three major championship titles.

Entering her 2024 season, the 27-year-old needed just two points to meet the minimum point threshold of 27 points to qualify for the LPGA Hall of Fame.

Ko represented New Zealand at the Olympic Games in Paris earlier this year, where she won the gold medal for the first time. In 2016, she took the silver medal and in 2020 she earned bronze.
