CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Golfers threw on some extra layers to tee off for one final round Sunday as Gardner Golf Course capped off the 2024 season.
While it was windy and some golfers even saw a few sprinkles, one golfer said the best part about golfing was being able to spend time with friends.
“It’s been a good season. I’ve played about 130 rounds, most of them at the Cedar Rapids courses. It’s a sad day every year when this day happens,” said golfer Steve McElmeel.
Officials said the city’s two other courses, Ellis and Twin Pines, will remain open as weather allows.
The closure of those two courses will be announced on social media.
