The Stevie Richards Show Episode 18 | Surviving the Locker Room

Following a discussion about a recent Rolling Stone article on Vince McMahon’s “Culture of Fear” according to former writers, Stevie Richards opens up about not only his experiences with the writers room, creative meetings and the culture he witnessed but also his experiences backstage and the toxic culture that thrived there for many years.  From being literally being kicked from a chair by a veteran and being snubbed for not shaking hands, to taboo subjects that could get you fired if you so much as mentioned them.  As well as the divisive “Wrestler’s Court” and those who would be banished form the locker room for the worst indiscretions, Stevie will also take a very close look at the case of Mr. Kennedy, the rising star who’s WWE career may have been tanked because of one mistake in the ring.

  1. Gaming seems to make the most sense for the other channel but you mentioned paranormal content Stevie and I would love to see that too. 👻

  2. 1st of all if there are only even two seats next to each other, both being identical seats, and you are sitting in 1 of them and only 1 veteran walks in you do not have to stand up and offer your seat in ANY locker room or situation. That has nothing to do with respect if someone has a problem with that they are bullying you specifically they wouldn't do that to everyone. C'mon Stevie. 2nd the handshake is a thing but not everyone gets upset at just anyone about it. Unfortunately you were just being bullied then as well.

  3. Wasn't it Scott Steiner that said he would only show up for a piss test, it Triple H did, too? 😂

  4. I'm a addict myself and have been since I was 16, I'm now 42. My beast has always been pain pills. My father was ultra abusive and afterwards he would feed me oxycotin 80s and at a young age I found out what withdrawal was. Now fast forward and here I am very tired of the same thing every time I run out of medicine. Everyday I pray that I can get all the way clean and find out what it's like to live a sober life of some kind. After years of the brutal beatings I took my body is really busted up and the pain never goes away but at this point I'm only taking things to help me with my mental pain. This is the first time I ever let this out for anyone to see but the one thing I want to stand out about what I'm writing is that I am still here. I never gave up and fought to still be here today so to anyone reading this looking for hope, not giving up is a huge victory in the battle of addiction keep swinging. You can't win the game if you give up in the 8th inning. Hang in there and you just might hit the game winning home run.

  5. Hearing JBL back down immediately when someone actually accepted his invitation to fight is peak JBL 😂

  6. Imagine getting to the pinnacle of your profession; and still having to deal with cliques and made up childish rules to appease the fragile egoes of adults playing pretend tough guys. I hope the locker rooms of today are better.

  7. A question for James: For some reason, I've been under the impression that 'American Football' was referred to as 'Gridiron' internationally. Is there any truth to that? Do you call it 'American Football' or 'Gridiron'?

Any non-Americans, please feel free to chime in. 😁

  8. The more I hear about Dean Malenko, the more I can't stand him. Overrated little midget. The epitome of never drew a dime smark darling.

  9. My one (and only) experience in a WWF locker room ended before it began. I was working a house show in 2001. My tag partner and I were cut-off by Bradshaw and directed to the restroom: "Job guys' change in there."
UPDATE 1 HOUR LATER: Turns out job guys change in a different room than the main roster (even if it's a restroom). I've done one WWF show as a trainee of Road Dogg and was never told this. I'm glad I never actually made it past the door.

  10. I always try to leave shows early, because if I stay to the end I have to keep track of every hand I shook for fear of missing one and offending somebody. If I leave early, I only had to get every hand that saw me leave.

  11. UFC has independent contractors. Why can't they go and fight wherever? Because UFC gave them contract for X matches and doesn't want them to get injured when working for competition. And doesn't want them to work for competition in a first place. No competition clause is standard even in white collar contracting. I believe that as far as the fighters are meeting all their obligations, they can be doing whatever that's not a competition to UFC.
Now with WWE that's did not used to be a thing. If it came to officialities I'm sure Vince would say that he needs the wrestler to appear on shows to prevent them to appear in whatever that wasn't his Idea, but generally the WWE structure seems more employee-like to be honest.

  12. With McMahon, and WWE culture I think it’s because of the money you could make they are loyal. As foley goes. With the side on the lawsuit I tend to take the side if Vince since the story is to crazy to be true

  13. Stevie ur AWESOME keep up the good work James ur AWESOME also really good work that y'all do Stevie could've been used better n WWE n TNA but n WWE I think Stevie could've been one of the top top guys but they didn't give him the chance Stevie knew how to wrestle n a good talker Stevie to us U still made it n still LOVED ALWAYS keep givin us that good content THANK YOU ALWAYS can't wait til the next one Thank You James

  14. When I was a young man I wanted to be a professional wrestler. I'm glad I didn't pursue that. Seems like most wrestlers are insecure, ego maniacs that are always looking for a reason to be offended.

  15. Bro nfl 2k5 is DEFINITELY still the best American football game only exception i hold the unrealistic nfl blitz from n64 in high regard.

  16. Come on man grab a sheet and clothes pins for that blind, and put the difference in the baby's college fund. Don't need to spend extra on moving blankets 😊

  17. I was in Crowley Louisiana an 11 years old, and I got to shake one of the Fantastics hands. I never forgot how weird that weak handshake was. I later heard about the handshake. I heard it's between wrestler's. I have shaken two maybe 3 men's hands that didn't grab my hand. I usually get my fingers cracked when I shake a guys hand.

  18. Sasha Banks and Zelina Vega most recently have tried the union talks in the locker room yet Vega still works for the WWE.

  19. This dude and Maven putting out some of the best wrestling content on YT. Unreal, keep up the hard work Stevie, never a fan to don't miss an episode. You rock dude

  20. i dont think its anyone's business to know what goes on in any wrestling locker room whether its silly wrestlers court stuff or thouse locker room rules etc like whos the boss in the locker room. None of anyone's business anyway. If everyone found out the actual rules etc then it pretty much ruins the whole wrestling organization for stupid outsiders like youtubers to get the scoop on what goes on

  21. Mick Foley is far left, he's an absolute idiot. This is why he writes children's books and has a year round Christmas room to play Santa in. I appreciate everything he did for the business but he is an absolute fruit cake in real life.
