The Colorado Avalanche had just suffered a grueling defeat to the Minnesota Wild, yet the horizon was bright, full of hope and promise. Leading them into a new era was the legendary Patrick Roy, a fierce competitor whose arrival as head coach inspired visions of a long reign behind the bench. In his first year behind the bench roy helped transform an aves team that had no business making the playoffs win the division, taking home the jack adams trophy for best coach in the entire league as a result
For a team that had struggled to regain its former glory, the Avalanche now had a core worth rallying around: young stars like Matt Duchene, Gabe Landeskog, Ryan O’Reilly, Nathan MacKinnon, and Paul Stastny, each a cornerstone in his own right.
Veterans like Alex Tanguay, Jean-Sébastien Giguère, P.A. Parenteau, and Maxime Talbot added wisdom and resilience, balancing the team’s youthful energy. The defensive lineup, with Erik Johnson, Tyson Barrie, and Nick Holden, promised to hold strong, a wall that could be trusted. Between the pipes, Semyon Varlamov was coming off one of the finest seasons of his career, showcasing a level of play that could carry them through the toughest battles. The Avalanche were no longer just a team fighting for relevance—they were on the verge of something great or so they hoped…..

  1. Shoutout to my little cousin! @Loughy18 He’s the one who gave me the idea for this video!! Go subscribe to him boys, he knows his stuff when it comes to hockey, And is looking to start up his channel soon!

  2. LOL NO MO COMO! I actually started watching hockey towards the end of the 90pt season. I had the cheapest tickets ever for like 3 years after that. You needed to put the video with MacKinnon shit talking cale on the draft.

  3. That 2014 season broke my heart into pieces when the Broncos won the Super Bowl in February of 2016 I told my Dad the Avs were gonna be the next team in Denver to win a championship. And it took 6 years but it finally happened

  4. The fact that the Avs at one point had Ryan O'Riley still shocks me to this day. Crazy to think about what could've been if he had never left.

  5. Really loved this. Great work! I must say…. The retro porn music through most of it cracked me up.

  6. Awesome story of players welding together, experiencing disappointments while chasing the cup, and finally winning it!

  7. Somehow I saw them win twice at home the 2016-17 season. But man the others were brutal.. Thankfully it got better

Really well done video, this was beautifully narrated and put together. Really is great to re-live these memories in such a cinematic way. Thank you!

  8. the 2016-2017 season was the first i watched as an avid fan. i remember one night my friends wanted to pick me up to hangout and i told them i would after the avs game, they played the canadiens and would give up 6 goals in the 1st period. needless to say, i did not end up finishing that game.

  9. By all accounts from avs scouting, they had Makar #1 on their draft board so most likely would have taken him 1oa if they’d won the lottery. Thank goodness he slipped to 4th

  10. Man, this video just reignited the sadness of missing Landy. I honestly believe if we hadn’t lost him after the cup we could’ve repeated in 23’. The team has just seemed, lost to some degree, without him. His presence was just the anchor to the team. As a player Val is the skill and size that fills Landy’s absence, but you just can’t replace his leadership and identity.
