Volquest answers your Tennessee football questions in the Nov. 7 mailbag ahead of Mississippi State
00:31 AllOrange07: Would UT consider going to silent counts and play calls/communications this week (in practices and in game) to get more practice ahead of the next week’s night game in Athens?
2:01 runCrossCountry: Given how routinely head-scratching calls are made by SEC officials each week, do you foresee the conference/commissioner ever employing full-time officials? How bad must officiating routinely get to have this seriously discussed at the conference level?
3:11 Similarly, how egregious must an official’s, or a set of officials’ bad call be to receive suspension or firing?
5:05 Mallou: Jalen Smith: earlier this year, he couldn’t cover me in pass coverage. In the past couple of games, he is getting better positive feedback on his play. How well do you think he has improved and is he going to get more of Telander’s minutes?
7:27 Tony_Soprano: How do you feel about the Vols ranking by the CFB Playoff Committee? Any big surprises?
12:07 Csgiles: Are all of these playoff projections based off of current results, or do they take into accounts likely wins/losses based on future games? For example, Tennessee is projected as an 8 seed. Is this assuming they lose to Georgia in Athens and win the remaining games or will that projection change if we were to actually lose?
12:52 Techvol: Are there any parameters when it comes to the in helmet communication to the qb?
14:52 Cn31: Do you think people really overlook the potential impact that Arkansas had a number of people with deep knowledge of both our offense and defense? Pittman had Briles as his OC for years. Nichols and Slaughter with 3yrs in the program. Travis Williams on the UCF staff that took over when Heupel left.
17:03 Forever Faithful: Which former Vol would have thrived under Barnes?
19:07 NzaNick: Do the conference title or playoff games count toward the games played for redshirts? If I recall, bowl games didn’t count.
19:15 Chatta_Vol: Do you expect we see more Peyton Lewis snaps going forward or was that strictly a Dylan’s in the doghouse situation?
20:26 Looking ahead (because we are allowed to do that), what are some vulnerabilities with this Georgia team that you expect Heupel & Co. to try and exploit?
24:48 BigOleVawls28: Do you think the receivers have underperformed as badly as it has seemed over the last two seasons or is there just way too much hype about them in the preseason?
28:33 Whites_fort_Vol: How does the Volquest staff bunk up on trips? Who’s roommates?
29:32 WrongHanded: Does JP make 3s in practice? Thought the scout on him out of high school was that he could shoot it.
30:10 DCE1470: It seems like we add a Top 50 baseball recruit almost every week. With all of the new additions, how do Tennessee’s recruiting classes (2025, 2026) stack up against the rest of the SEC and how do they compare with recruiting classes of the past under Tony V?
31:56 SamSmith2233: Ramey or Rob what is the scout of the Pat Kelsey and the Cards?
33:50 Bigorangecrush: How many High School players can we sign this year?
34:22 StumpJumper: If Sampson continues at his current average, he’ll have 1500 yards and 29 TD’s. How will he be viewed in terms of historical UT RB’s considering the records he’s setting?
35:34 Pine: If Nick Saban or Kirby Smart’s name was on this team, would they be ranked/thought of higher by the media, fans and committee? Is Coach Heupel being an offensive-minded coach hurting this team’s eye test as the committee likes to call it?
37:18 Orange_Figjam: I would appreciate the staff’s honest assessment of the red zone play calling on offense.
39:23 1987vol: It seems like on offense we play with good pace until we reach the red zone and then we get more deliberate. Why is that and could that be a part of our problem in the red zone?
41:05 Crayon: Chances the coaching staff looks the same going into 2025?
41:51 What matchup in round 1 of the CFP would be the most favorable for TN?
42:37 Could the university be doing more PR for Sampson and a Heisman campaign?
44:35 Mrrockytoprowdy: Do you all have any advice for first time fathers?

If UGA beats us at their house by 14 or more, will we even be in the playoff? If we win every other game.
Keeping Bishop on the shelf is no doubt a wise move! Let Lewis get some more run against state and Ave a stable ready at UGA
Grrrrrraaaaaannnnnttttt

Why shouldn’t each team in the SEC have the ability to have an analyst to watch each game to identify each play where a referee either missed a call or made an incorrect call and submit the list that the SEC officiating group so teams can actually have the ability to prohibit certain refs from calling their games.
This could be used to educate or train refs and or weed out the bad refs.
I was at that 2019 LSU game in baton rouge. The officiating in that game was the worst I've ever seen.
Bobby Bowden just called them by #.
Teams with terrible schedules being in the top ten?? Indiana has played no one!! AP is apparently giving bama the win against LSU! I think they lose.. Hard to go fast when the defense always has someone faking injuries. And wtf is asking for father advice on VQ??
Doug Roth!!!!
Fans worry to much about officiating. It's not some easy job. Do they miss calls yes,do they make bad calls yes. It's part of it they are human
Love the dad talk 💯 VFL!
As far as the receivers go, it ain't all about touchdown catches. Our receivers have made plenty of very good catches to keep the chains moving.
Excluding Squirrel, Bru, and the tight ends (as a group), we HAVE to get better at receiver, if we are to beat Georgia, and get where we want to go. They are mediocre in ROUTE RUNNING and simply catching the football. They should be a strength…not an impediment.
Whats up with Cam Seldon? Is he going to take a red shirt and transfer?
I would think they would practice at night a few times prior to the uga game
Ken Williamson from Tuscaloosa shouldn’t be doing Tennessee games period
Nor Greg Mcleroy call the 3rd Saturday in October. It’s not fair to us and frankly not fair to them
“HICE CREAM??!!!”- Cole Trickle
How about a special edition on just the new Lady Vols!🏀🍊
0:58 100%, they need to be practicing at the stadium
Amen Hubber to the Adult Parenting – ain't easy …
good pod bois
Why just bc Peyton lewis or a player get some play and it turns into oh its just bc of this or that. Some fans are annoying and need to stop watching the game if they never played it enough to understand it. They look too clueless to be heard.
What’s the latest on Cam Seldon? Haven’t seen much of him this season. Hope he sticks around and gets to see the field.
Peyton Lewis will be the main running back next year
Whatsup Cainer, AP, Hubbs & Grant this a good show with very good information I enjoy y'all.
